Okay, I found their website. Looking through the albums, I see a song called "We all fall down". But, I'm not even sure what you meant by "Chicken Dance".

Sans Couth
06-19-2004, 09:35 AM
Well when you here the answer you will understand.

Hint:

The song is an instrumental.

sinton66
06-19-2004, 09:44 AM
That doesn't help if you've never heard ANY of their songs. Guess I'm just gonna have to wait it out, 'cause right now I don't have a clue.;)

Sans Couth
06-19-2004, 10:28 AM
You don't have to "hear" a song, to "see" the title means the same as 'chicken dance'.

You just have to know the names of the songs.:D

Here is a tough one.

Name the six towns in 3A that start with the letter A:D

1. Abilene Wylie
2. Armarillo River Road
3. Anahuac
4. Aransas Pass
5. Atlanta

Phil C

I am taking wild guesses on no. 6 now Sans. Is it Alpine?

Phil C
06-24-2004, 01:46 PM

Sans Couth
06-24-2004, 02:15 PM
I am going to give it to Phil.

Number six is Altair Rice

I don't know what source you used to determine them moving to 2A, but according to the UIL's website they are in district 20 for the 2004-2005 seasons.

PhiI C
06-24-2004, 07:53 PM
Thank you Sans. I don't know why but I just thought they had gone down to 2A this year. Ok for those that watched Dawn at Socorro the next trivia question is on the stagecoach ride to Socorro Alex Nicol revealed several reasons why he didn't like Rory Calhoun. What was the main reason? No hints either since you should have watched it. Sans may answer too.

sinton66
06-24-2004, 09:07 PM
Rory kicked his dog about three months earlier. Alex didn't like that and swore he'd get vengenance. Rory then told him next time he'd just shoot the dog. Alex exclaimed in surprize "What???? You know that would make you a low down, dirty-dealing, scum sucking, dog shooter, doncha?" Rory said "You better SMILE when you say that, or fill your hand with a six gun!" Alex said "My gun's in the shop so it'll have to be another time and another place, but just when you least expect it, I'll step out from behind a door and WHAM!!!!!, You'll be dining on hot lead!" Rory said "Anytime, any place, I'll take care of you, and I'll get your little dog too!"

(But, that's just a guess.:D )

Sans Couth
06-24-2004, 09:16 PM
I think Phil should give it to you just because you took the time to be creative.

PhiI C
06-24-2004, 09:28 PM
It was great creativity to be commended on. If it was just a little bit more accurate I would give it to you but it is still too far off the mark. Sorry! :( Keep trying! I will give a hint that should give it away though. Doc Holiday from a fine GA family.

sinton66
06-24-2004, 10:16 PM
Oh, okay, you must be talking about the other incident.

One day, Rory embarrassed Alex in a mexican bar down close to the border. Rory was standing at the bar sucking down tequila shots and squeezing on a barmaid. Alex was at a table over in the back corner eating a bowl of chili and beans when he accidently let a loud one rip (broke wind). A distinct silence fell over the entire room, and without even thinking about it Rory piped up and said " That sounds a LOT better since you had it tuned.":D

Okay, here's another.

One day, Alex rushed into to saloon yelling, "All right, who's the wise guy that painted my horse yellow?"
There was silence in the saloon.
"'Fess up if you dare," shouted the cowboy.
With that, the biggest, meanest-looking hombre (Rory) he had ever seen got up from one of the tables, rested his hands on his gun handles and coolly stated, "I did, whaddaya want to tell me?"
The cowboy looked up and down at this terrifying figure, swallowed hard and replied, "Just thought you'd like know, the first coat's dry!":D

As an Easterner, Alex had always dreamed of owning his own horse ranch, and finally made enough money to buy himself the spread of his dreams out west.
Rory told this story about it one night in the saloon.
"So what did he name the ranch?" asked Rory's friend when he came to visit. "Being a new Cowboy, He had a heck of a time," commented Rory. "He and his family couldn't agree on anything. They finally settled on the Double R Lazy L Triple Horseshoe Bar-7 Lucky Diamond ABC XYZ Ranch."
"Wow!" his friend was impressed. "So where are all his horses?"
Rory answered "None of 'em survived the branding.":D

Ok, we'll go with the first time the two met. It was in Tombstone one summer evening. Alex had always dreamed of being the best gunfighter the west had ever known and practiced for hours on end every day. He got good, real good, but wasn't satisfied he could be the best. He walked into the saloon in Tombstone and spotted Rory standing at the bar. Instantly recognizing him as an older, more experienced gunfighter, Alex sidled up next to him at the bar and bought him a drink. He told Rory that he had always respected his ability as a gunfighter, and was wondering if he wouldn't mind passing along some tips to him. Rory gave him the once over and said " First of all, you're wearing your gunbelt WAY too high. Tie it further down your leg." Alex asked, "Will that make me a better gunfighter?" Rory said "It shore will!" Alex tried it, drew quickly and shot the bowtie off the piano player. Obviously pleased, Alex asked " Ok, anything else?" Rory said " Cut a notch in your holster where the hammer rests against the leather, that will help the gun come out of the holster quicker." Alex asked "Will that make me a better gunfighter?" Rory said "It shore will!" Alex took out his knife and whittled a notch. He then drew lightning quick and shot a cufflink off the piano player. "Hey that's great" said Alex, "Anything else?" Rory said "There's just one more thing, that barrel over in the corner is full of bear grease, take some and smear it on your gun." Alex went over and began spreading the grease on the sides of his six-shooter. Rory said "No, no no! Smear the grease over the ENTIRE gun, handle and all!" Alex asked, "Will that make me a better gunfighter?" Rory said " No, but it will make it hurt less when Wyatt Earp finishes playing that piano and shoves that gun up your AZZ!:D

Phil C

Just kidding! The answer was that Calhoun reminded Nicol of himself and it disgusted him. Both were from prominate families and better things were expected of them that they life they were now living. Calhoun was making a change though. Nicol remained a gunfighter.

Ranger Mom

A three part question:

Back in the 70's there was a show that had a hippo, a frog, and an owl as characters.....

What were their names, what was the name of the boy and girl on the show, and what was the name of the show?

(If someone posts the right answer, it will then ring a bell. Me and my brother were talking about this and couldn't remember....I decided not to do any kind of search on it, so I could be surprised when I saw the answer!:D )

Ranger Mom
06-28-2004, 07:33 PM
It was a kid's show...but not the one you are speaking of. I think that one was called the Land of the Lost, or Land before Time..or something like that.

My nephew was watching that show when I was over there last week, I had to laugh at the "special effects"!!

Try again....for some reason I just all the sudden remembered one of the characters names....the theme song is slowly coming back to me!

Opps - sorry - really busy at the office today...

Who was the first couple to share the same bed on television?

I know an easy question...

Ranger Mom
06-29-2004, 04:29 PM
My answer is Mary Kay and Johnny. (I am only saying this because of the article I found below).

Dear Legrone Thompson,

The question of which TV sitcom was the first to feature a husband and wife sleeping in the same bed (rather than twin beds) has been asked many times. For years Florence Henderson claimed that Mike (Robert Reed) & Carol (Florence Henderson) Brady were the first. Then she announced that she was incorrect; it was Herman & Lily Munster. I announced that the correct answer was on January 17, 1955 when Fred (William Frawley) & Ethel (Vivian Vance) Mertz demonstrated their unique way to cope with a sagging mattress in the "I Love Lucy" episode entitled "First Stop."

Many people reject this account as Fred was pretty much a prisoner of the bed and it was a one-time occurrence.

I was later corrected, Ozzie and Harriet had a queen-size bed.

But they are all wrong! "Mary Kay and Johnny" were the first in 1947, Mary Kay also was shown pregnant on this early sit-com. And since "Mary Kay and Johnny" was the first sit-com, I don't think I'll ever have to correct my answer again!

Thanks for writing, stay tuned,

Hey Ranger Mom while we are waiting on 66 how about another filler question on Dawn at Socorro (and I will make it easy for those that haven't seen it). Alex Nicol as Jimmy Rapp says the first three words in the movie (not counting narator) to Rory Calhoun at a poker game. What is the third word in the comment: Come on _____.

Old Dog
07-01-2004, 04:08 PM
All this talk about Rory Calhoun made me recall something funny! Back in the 50's when he starred in the t.v. series, "The Texan" (or something like that), the studio put out publicity photos of Rory. He was standing there in his western duds with the great state of Texas flag flying in the background. Problem was the flag was upside down.......caused a small stir here abouts!!!

Those 2 ingredients are how my mom used to make Thousand Island Dressing....but she used more than 3 ingredients. In fact, I had to call her and get the recipe, just to make sure

THOUSAND ISLAND DRESSING

1 c. mayonnaise
1 stalk celery, chopped

2-3 tbsp. ketchup
2 hard boiled eggs, chopped

Mix all ingredients together. Makes 2 cups.

sinton66
07-03-2004, 11:25 PM
any guesses?

PhiI C

It was due to convenience and style. When the broad fall front was enlarged thirteen buttons were used because of the added symetry of design.

Ranger Mom
07-04-2004, 10:04 AM
You are correct Phil C. Sinton66 will be away until tonight, so he PM'd me the answer. Here is what he wrote:

Most people will say that the thirteen buttons symbolize the original thirteen states, but that is incorrect. In fact, during that time, the trousers had only seven buttons, and at another point in time, they had fifteen. The answer is when the trousers were redesigned, thirteen was decided upon for symmetry (sp?)reasons only.
