Brownwood is a good team, with a huge OL. With that said you can't beat a team by arm tackling all night. The game isn't over, but regardless of the outcome they need to work on wrapping up and tackling and quit chest bumping and diving.

Big ups to the wood.. on the win.. but I see the coaches looking at each other and saying..now what...lol.. on the bright side..Turner threw 7 or 8 Tds not sure and at least 465 yards..an amazing preformance.. the O was unstopable..bad news is the BW O was also unstoppable.. they have very good wideouts.. and that made the difference I think.. 14 and 8 are awesome kids.. and seem to be nice to..going out of there way to help a player up and not getting frustrated when thing go the other way.. nice win BW...good luck..god speed

It's week 2, we lost some last year too and what did that do? It made us grow. I think we got a little spoiled with the D line we had , and 99 and 20 have moved on..or at least I think 20 was pretty good , SOME coaches may not agree :)

We have some young guys on D that will grow and develop with experience. It'll be alright. The level headed 24/7 fans in Bwood aren't putting that 8th star on the field yet, they know it's week 2 and if the Lions keep doing whatever it is they're doing, then those boys should play some December ball. They looked real good tonight and wanted it more. Every team has some rebuild modes and that's where we are on D. We got knocked down, we have before, let's get back up just like we have done before. Great game Lions!

Turner was 29 for 45.. 479 yards 8 TDs 1 int QB rating of 130.5 .and he had 97 yards on the ground.... 479 yards and 8 TDs.. and we lost ..I am going to make Lemonade and say this could be a good thing.. We found a HUGE weakness early in the year.. In time to correct the problem..

in the craziness of last light. I did see some good play on D.. Young #99 played very well (when he was in).. He made some great BTL tackles and forced the qb to make bad passes.. I see him playing more in the coming weeks.. I think the D-line did well too.. When 3 guys go up against 5 and hold their own that's really nice to see.. When they ran up the middle it was for the most part stopped.. (other than the bombs)..the sweeps, bootlegs and screen passes killed us... That responsibility lands squarely on the shoulders of the Lbs.. I did not like what I saw here.. I saw on several occasions one of the young men. trying to hit and start something with a particularly mouthy opposing player.. Rather than get the tackle or go for the ball.. I saw this over and over.. I wanted to yell at the coaches (hey do something) but they seemed to be oblivious of this... But I try to remember what it was like to be a teenager.. and the things that matter to them .. really don't matter at all .. We all need to try to remember this.. They are merely boys.. Also please yall understand that when you trash talk your own team.. That these boys have parents. They only want the best for their child. Encouragement, and praise is what they need.. They get plenty of the other..

On a personal note.. I have considered no longer posting on any sites, because of the flak and attacks I seem to get personally for this.. Not sure why folks want to do this? As I have stated before.. This is a by product of the book I am writing about the 12,13,&14 seasons.. I see something during my research and I post it because I think folks might like it.. I spend about two hours a day on the books.. I do have a publisher and a "done by date" DBD.. 02/2017. I am not obsessed I am trying to tell a story.. This was all suppose to be in fun..

On a personal note.. I have considered no longer posting on any sites, because of the flak and attacks I seem to get personally for this.. Not sure why folks want to do this? As I have stated before.. This is a by product of the book I am writing about the 12,13,&14 seasons.. I see something during my research and I post it because I think folks might like it.. Nothing can take away from Bwoods title's.. Some fans are already proclaiming another star.. and believe me that's fine that is why we are all here..but when you break it all down..Bwood won by 6 points..was not a blow out was not a statement win.. It was two very bad defensive performances.. Also two very good offensive performances. Graham is use to the big game.. and loses by one score early in the season happened last year too.. So don't put much stock in the win or the lose.. When District begins thats when we all need to show up.. I might be regretting this later but I am fairly sure that Graham will win our district.. Brownwood ..humm. well good luck with yours...

Graham is RATED where we are for a reason guy. Defense is in a learning stage and we still only fell by 6 to Bwood with a stellar offensive showing. I think you may have said the same thing about Graham last year too. We will be alright and continue to terrorize the big towns. Lost a couple last year and that helped develop a better Steer team. Time will tell if that is the result this season.

Wish we would have started fast like this out of the gate, but last year some losses made the boys adjust and play tougher. Hopefully it'll serve the young new faces well. If our D comes together in combination with the explosive capabilities of our O, watch out !!!

I'm pretty sure Graham will give the Argyle D all it can handle in a few weeks. One way to win is by having a good defense, and another way to win is by having a very good offense. The team that puts the most points on the board is the winner. Unfortunately for Graham, Brownwood somehow scored a few more points the other night. But I'm certain that the Steers coaches will rectify that right away. It's early and hiccups do occur early. I fully suspect the Steers to play a better brand of defense by the time they meet Argyle next week. No question the Steers offense is capable of putting points on the board. I think it should be an unwritten rule that great teams play great teams in pre-district.. makes for a supper exciting games even if no playoffs positions are on the line.. can't wait.. I am sure Argyle will be tough but gracious hosts next week..

QB Ward is a big (6'3", 195) kid that is a decent runner with a very strong arm, has several colleges looking closely at him (*ACU* cough*). Favorite reciever is Jaxon Money--big target, can run, good hands. Leading rusher is Asbill, durable kid, hits holes well and always seems to get 3-4 yards after contact--not flashy but gets the job done. Speed back is Josh Novil. Starting CB so offensive touches are limited but is electric in the open field--prob fastest kid on the team. If he gets even with you--he's gone. Pepper is a very good back and has good size with excellent speed but again--starts at OLB so offensive play will be limited. O-line was a big ? coming into season and struggled against Argyle, several new underclassmen starters last week and played very well against Burnet. Defense is just salty. Very solid D-line anchored by Deion Novil. 6'3", 240 and can run. Has been double and triple teamed so far and still is a disruptor. LB's are excellent and prob the strength of the team. CB's are very talented but still learning the position with 2 new starters--could be in trouble against Graham. Safeties are very big and very good.
Like I stated earlier, Graham's strengths will play against our weaknesses and vice-versa--should be a VERY entertaining and hard fought game. I see Coach Sandifer opening up the playbook and Wylie taking a very close win 34-28... will be shocked if anyone before the 3rd or 4th round of the playoffs puts more than 4 TD's on us...

One final note about last week, and then I will happily move on. I have watched every single game since the 2009 season of our Steers. Also almost every game from 2006 till 2008. I do not have kids playing anymore. I watch for the love of the game and other important reasons [to me]. Last Fridays game was a complete oddity on defense. I have only seen Graham have a defensive performance like that one other time.. That was the semi-final game vs Gilmer in 2012.. So I cant help to think that it was just a very bad night.. On the other hand I have seen that type of offensive performance week after week. It shows how much O we can generate if the starters stay in the entire game.. So as I scratched my head trying to wrap my mind around it all.. I am left with this conclusion. One week.. One game.. No one won lost a trophy.. and sure as hell no one won one..

Rather than dwell on the negative. I will talk a little bit about the positive things from last night's game. The defensive line played very well. They were able to get a good push on most plays. Even members from the other team staff remarked on this. Abilene Wylie considered our defensive line a weakness for our team. All in all it was a much better defensive performance then last week.

There are lots of things that improve upon. That's what this time of year is for. Some teams use it to play easy teams in pre-district, for easy wins. With every loss, there is a lesson to be learned. With every easy win, there's a lesson to be forgotten. Next week will be another hard game with another very good team. I believe in this team. Win or lose at this time of year there is a chance to improve. The lessons learned now will only serve to benefit us later. I am sorry that I'm not a glass is half empty, person. I saw great things last night. I watched every play, of course we had some bad ones, and made some mistakes. But also saw some wonderful kids do a lot of wonderful things. Playing against a very good team but team with obvious limits. I believe that we do not have those limits. I hope is that the coaches can utilize the kids correctly. And allow their God-given talents to come out in their play of each game. I know it must be very very stressful to be on the staff of the team has been as successful as ours. Once again that's what pre-district is for. I believe that when the games start to matter. They will have it all worked out, and our boys will be right where they should be. This team can be great and I believe they will be.

Just watched some Argyle videos.. I think we can run on them. Celina ran with relative ease friday.. Most of the runs were 6 or 8 yards regularly.. Several long runs also.. Argyle had very few stop for no gain and TFL.. I like this :D

Love the confidence Brian. Trouble is, I have watched "video" as well. Key pieces Graham is missing. Celina Oline and Celina RB. Argyle got their butt whipped on defense no doubt. Out played, out physicaled, out schemed, out desired..... +Celina is really good on offense. This is an early season lesson for the Eagles. They cannot waltz into games, roll their helmets out, and expect to win. Too much complacency, and believe me, I am not taking anything away from Celina, they are really good on offense and played a tenacious game on D. However, this has be coming for Argyle. I have heard that this will be a very different week of preparation for Argyle and it started on Saturday morning. If Graham comes into Argyle and beats this team in its home opener after a loss they took on Friday, then hats off to you. There is a lot of pride in that locker room with some very talented players that are not happy with the way they played on Friday.
