Hopefully, I'm not the only to think this but here it goes. No one in our district is a top team this year. Sorry, I do support Decatur but I also have common sense. I've seen Decatur teams that were top tier, Graham teams that were top tier and well...I have not seen a Mineral Wells top tier team (that doesn't mean there hasn't been one, I just haven't seen it). You have an Argument if this was a year ago but it's not.

OK BOYS AND GIRLS!! Here is how the 4-4A Dist pans out tonight! Put on your thinking cap:
Graham, who lost to Mineral Wells 31-27, can force a three-way tie atop the league with a victory. It would force the playoff seedings to come down to a complicated formula. If Graham won by five or less, Decatur would be the top seed followed by Graham and Mineral Wells. If Graham won by six, it would force a coin flip between Decatur and Graham for the top seed. A Graham win between seven and 11 points, would make the Steers the top seed followed by Decatur and Mineral Wells. If Graham won by 12, Decatur and Mineral Wells would flip for second. A Graham win of 13 or more would drop Decatur to third behind Mineral Wells.

Major major bad miss on the refs, but we let a lead slip away that would have not allowed that missed call to change the outcome. Had they made the call as they should have, it's a different outcome, but we didn't keep our foot on Decaturs throat like we should have.

When a missed or bad call changes the outcome of a game it's hard to not vent. Hopefully those boys won't call a playoff game.

This was a piss poor officiated game! I'm critical of a lot of things but those boys had to fight the Eagles and the refs the entire night. Damn shame they lost like that. Hats off to those boys and those coaches...they came to win and they were robbed.

It was a poorly officiated game - but not a one-sided officiated game. The no-calls (repeated holding and pass interference) were what allowed Graham to ahead in the first place.

I wrote on another thread, and I will say again here that what turned the tide at the end was not the refs - their bad calls had been going on all night.

The momentum turned to the Eagles with the sideline penalty, which was truly deserved.

The Graham coaches try to make a tough pre-district schedule. So if we are not in the same district next year.. which is a distinct possibility.. Then I would bet that we play each other again.. If the Decatur side agrees that is...

I must apologize to every Decatur poster on here.. I have studied the 4th down play in question for quite a while today.. After my research "thanks to an unnamed very good friend in Decatur" It was clearly a LEGAL PASS.... I was told that the play was clearly an illegal forward pass... AND YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!.... Friends this was a completely legal play that was executed to perfection by a scrambling QB... This was the point of release by the Decatur QB.. It is legal if ANY part of him is behind the line... You can also see the scrimmage line in the background... Legal and great pass.... Kudos Decatur... very nice

If you are talking about me then you must know.. I claimed that the call was bad last night because of info I was given.. I missed that play in person... I was miss informed. . I just want to make it right.. The game should not be scarred by false claims.. I was attempting to right the wrong.. Also this forum is for debates and banter as much as anything else.. It is a way for folks to celebrate as well as vent..

Well I must say in defense of the Graham coach.. The picture does not show that the QB was in full sprint.. and in real time looks quite close.. Also. The Graham coach is quite a calm character.. I have seen every single game he has coached in Graham as head coach and assistant.. He NEVER does that.. So I am left to believe that he truly though the play was bad.. Then you put the fact in that it has not been a Graham type year...lol... well we are all human.. good news is it all starts over now... Playoffs can restart a good thing very fast..

You don't know me and you sure as hell don't know my situation with the players.. truth is I have interviewed several players talked to several parents and have tons of info I do not share.. I have hours upon hours of interviews with dozens of past and a few present players.. I have been to there house.. shook there hands.. talked to the parents. Recorded every interview.. with stars.. starters... and even bench warmers.. so yeah I am an authority on the Steers. So give it a rest sweetheart.... I have signed cotract with McGraw Hill.. I am several chapters into my three part book.. I have a done by date of 01/17... but that's old news...Guess you didn't know....sugar

As a fan of Graham sports.. As a person that thinks high school football is the best kind of football... I want to say a huge thank you to these two young men.. They played at a higher level than most... With a drive and determination that can not easily be matched.. The last three season have been a joy to witness.. They have a total of 538 tackles between them and had most quarterbacks worried for years.. A huge part of a defense that was at one time IMO the best in the state..

Might go back to Breckenridge week 5 will be a toss up.. I see this if the coach keeps things the way he has for the last several years... but. Nearly three weeks after wrapping up a promising volleyball campaign with an area loss to defending state champion Decatur, the Lady Blues learned that they landed eight players on the 6-4A all-district team.
“We were very well represented,” Lady Blues head coach Marci Faulk said. “It speaks volumes about the improvements. I was very pleased with what we had considering Stephenville made it to regionals and (Abilene) Wylie made it to the regional qualifiers.”
Lexie Allen, Nicole King and Jasmine Sims headlined Graham's all-district selections by earning their place on the 6-4A first team. In only seven district contests, Allen connected on 70 kills and also contributed defensively with seven blocks and 12 digs. King netted 54 points, 135 digs and 103 perfect serve/receive passes, while Sims collected 75 kills, 17 aces, 55 points and 21 blocks.
Last season's 11-win Blues team garnered three all-district selections, with Allen capturing the only first-team recognition. Faulk said that all the other district coaches present at Monday's selection meeting were highly complimentary of her 28-15 squad that seized the program's first playoff win since 2011.
“It was very positive at the meeting,” she said. “Each school talked about how much our team has improved. They were like, "Coach you can see they love to play volleyball, and they're going to keep getting better.'”
Savanna Wilson, Izzy Maberry and Marleigh Sanders were tabbed on the second team by the district coaches. Wilson amassed 45 kills, 21 aces, 65 digs and 79 perfect serve/receive passes during her senior season. Maberry racked up 36 kills, five aces, 38 points, 34 blocks and 24 digs in eight district games. Sanders dished out 128 assists and also had 11 aces, 57 points and 48 digs.
Emily Davis and Veronica Breitkreutz secured their spot on the all-district squad as honorable mentions. Davis finished with 21 kills, six blocks and 10 digs, while Breitkreutz had 25 kills, 14 blocks and 28 deflections.
“Our girls should be extremely proud,” Faulk said. “All of them. Even the ones that weren't honored on this should be proud to be on a team where eight were honored in such a tough district.”
Faulk added that all 13 of her varsity players had a shared impact on the success of the 2015 Lady Blues.

I think it could certainly happen.. We will have to see what the coaches decide.. Wouldn't mind if it kept going either.. Just hard to see the coaches getting together on this.. for both sides... but we shall see.

I can say this "only from the perspective of a fan"... and this may tick off some Argyle fans and I am sorry but it is the the truth.. We the fans wernt treated very well by Argyle when we went to the stadium this year. Now the team "Argyle" was great no problems with them at all.. but things happened to us the fans while we were at the game that....well ..made us feel unwelcome... That is why I think it "may" not happen..

I completely agree most schools have a very large Hispanic population and that is the number one sport down there. Not that I'm saying race has anything to do with it but I am being a realist.

In our area we could 'out-athlete' other teams and win, once we got deep in the playoffs and had to play Dallas and El Paso teams that were all Hispanic and played soccer year round we got outplayed. Their skills were impressive. Our kids nearly all played one or more other sports as well as soccer (half our team played football).

Kicker issues in Graham are locally quite famous. In 2009 it cost us a state championship. If we only had a kicker that could kick 2 extra points we would have won 14 to 13 instead of losing 12 to 13 against Carthage. Every year not having a decent kicker has cost us at least one important game. Not to mention our kickoffs. Oh my god what a headache that is...lol

She has been slowed down this year after she tore her ACL in the last playoff game last year against burkburnett. Surgery has healed but she gets better every game. This is one of the toughest districts in the state with Wylie, Stephenville & Brownwood also here. Shes had offers from several Ivy League schools incuding Harvard and Princeton, but right now Baylor may be the choice.

From the Graham Leader and Lady Blues Head Coach comment about my Grandaughter Natalie from Mineral Wells....“We lucked out. Mineral Wells played hard. Give them a lot of credit. That (Natalie) Ragland girl is a joy to watch. She sees the floor and she is very unselfish. She is one of the most unselfish players in the district. She sees the floor as well as anybody,” Graham said. “I am not sure how we won that game"...Thanks Coach...She played on ankle she rolled in practice the day before. She's been a joy to watch all these years. Got news today that we will be seeing her at the next level. Again, Thank you Graham.

I had a great conversation with this young man and his dad today... He will be a Jr. next season and already has more D1 offers than you can count... He is wise beyond his years and I feel he might have a shot at the big time... BUT for now I am soooo glad he is a GRAHAM STEER!
