Should be a pair of good games. Aubrey squeaked by Greenwood with a miracle, and Celina handled Sweetwater, although the game was much closer for the most part than the score indicated.

Aubrey is tough. This is by far the best Chaps team I've seen in my lifetime. They've got a lot of speed, and some pretty good size on both sides of the ball. They will grind you to death on offense and then pop a big play. QB can sling it decently, and he's a big boy. Hard to bring down even when you get pressure on him, and he can move pretty well. Defense flies to the football and tackles in space pretty well. But they do have guys going both ways in lots of spots, so you can wear them down late in the game.

Aubrey's issue is they dont defend the pass very well....unless they've made big strides I dont see them slowing down an efficient spread offense like Graham's

No they still have issues with it. Caddo Mills — their lone loss — threw it all over them. Godley had a ton of success against the Chaps with the pass, too. But still, this Aubrey team has just enough talent to make you tap the brakes just a bit. They have the type of offense that can grind out drives and limit Graham's possessions.
I still think Graham is a 2-TD favorite.

Congrats on the win, Graham (and brian!). What a game. Two hard-nosed, hard-hitting football teams. That miracle-heave, answered-prayer throw was the difference maker. And ya'll have an absolute stud kicker, man. Good for that young man. Good luck next week!
Also, I don't know what y'all will bring back next season or what you've got coming back, but let's do this again next year, yes? Celina was 90% (if not more) sophomores and juniors this season, so we were really a year or two early for a run like this.

BUT the call I would be more mad about if I was a Celina fan was the offsides on the onside kick... I DIDN'T SEE THAT AT ALL... I checked the film too.. Do not see what the line judge seen..... but the crew was from Dallas I was told.. just a blown call.. bad one for sure..

The Graham catch was clearly a first down, I was surprised where they spotted it. But I was also surprised that play even happened. But you’re right, the offsides call on the onside kick was blatantly missed AND the ineligible receiver on the pivotal 2-point conversion for Celina was missed. That play happened so fast, we didn’t have time to get an ineligible downfield. But missed calls happen. I hate it, but it’s part of the game. When two teams are as evenly matched as these two were, sometimes those calls make the difference.

Impressed with how hard Graham played too. A senior-laden team that just never panics is so hard to beat this time of year.
Our two teams will meet again next year, I think. Celina will be a freaking load in Region I next season, I know that, and last night’s heartbreak is gonna fuel this offseason. Our youngsters got a taste for winning and for what it takes to play in December. They also got some confidence, which they just didn’t have to start the season. Next year will be fun.
As it just so happens, Celina’s 8th grade team was also very, very good. They beat the brakes off lots of people. And a couple of those kids are likely going to start next season as freshmen.

I also wanna say, losing is always hard, but the sting is lessened when you lose to a classy team. Graham sure is a classy bunch. Good kids, good coaches. There was a lot of mutual respect out their on the field last night between those boys.

But set ups for a healthy rivalry.. If the Bobcats keep the same pre-district schedule next season.. Those big boys better watch out.. Bobcats will definitely be ready.. Once in a while a game comes along that reaffirms your love in the game. refs aside.. that is just gonna happen... this was one of those games

Celina had the momentum at the time. but Having seen live or on video virtual every game in the last 13 years. I don't remember that particular ref crew. We definitely have our regulars. Lol to tell the truth we get alot of very negatively bias refs as we have been the "team to beat" in our area for a while now... When things go wrong.. We want pick apart the game. A game like this the mistakes made by the officials can really stand out. I remember the State Championship game between Argyle and Navasota. The refs gave Rattlers a TD on 4th and goal that was clearly short. That game went to OT.. And Navasota won in OT.. That cost Argyle a ring that year.. (THIS WAS BEFORE VIDEO REVIEW).. I was the game 2014 that Ralston had 65 carriers or so nuts numbers for Argyle. Loved watching that kid play. They beat us by a last second F.G. in the semis that year..grrrrr....lol

Tale of two halves. 35-7 Gilmer 1st half. Graham won the 2nd half 14-0 and played very aggressive D. I personally thought they should have played that way the entire game. Thats how you play speed.. but was a good game. Final was 35-21 Gilmer. They are a fine fine team. Look forward to rematch with Carthage in the S.C.
GREAT Season for Graham. Nothing to hang their heads about. Great team. With a great future.

Graham lost in the 1st round. I really did not expect much from a very young bunch... BUT take a look at the bracket.. HUGE BIG UPS to our neighbors Breckenridge taking down the GIANTS that is Carthage. Holding them to just 7 points. WOW! I watched them yesterday. They seemed for real and they are... OK here's the new scoreboard. I've been posting pictures all along so I might as well put up the final version.
About last night's scrimmage. Graham pretty much dominated. Bowie is a 3A D1 team. No surprise at the result. The defense was fantastic.. It kept the opposing offense from doing pretty much anything.
About the O. Graham's young freshman quarterback is actually pretty large for his age.. He has very good accuracy. A lot of heat on the ball. He's a strong kid but hes a freshman.. The only Freshman Graham has had as a quarterback in recent past was it was Case MaCoy. It is way too early to compare the 2 at the same at the same age. I can say this this kid is bigger, stronger, faster, and flings a harder ball. Also from the short exert that I've seen he seems to have a decent field general presence.

Well Graham had an absolutely thrilling 1st game this season. They took commanding lead of 21-0. Then thanks to a very good running back corp. The Indians stormed back and took the lead 28-35. With less than 2 minutes left. The young freshman QB lead the Steers down field. Threw a TD pass. Now with just a few ticks left on the Clock. Coach Davidson made the correct decision in my mind to go for 2 and the win. The 2 point conversion was an awesome catch. Giving Graham the win. 36-35. An absolutely entertaining game. Like I have said, I am not expecting huge things from this young group. But they got fight and the young QBs leadership is not in question

Let me just add this Freshman QB led his team in a 2 min drill to not only score a TD but a game winning 2 point conversion. In his 1st High school game ever.. WOW! Think about that a minute. Last night's game went about like I thought it might. The youth of the Steers QB showed. Graham got down to the endzone area with ease and regularity. This is where the youn QBs inexperience showed. When the D tightens up and the field gets shorter. The good news is. I think that problem will be fixed in a short amount of time. The kid is a wonderful QB and if that is the only knock, and at this point it is. Graham is in good shape. We lost that game, but in the over all picture.... it was a big win. The season of learning continues and it is way ahead on schedule...

Last couple of games have been tough losses. Not surprising to say the least. As both teams are good squads. Next is an unknown for me. Greenwood..... They seem to be struggling just as much as Graham this year. Graham suffered a big blow Thursday Night. As the young QB is going to be out with a concussion (according to multiple sources).... But it is not the end of the world. I think they should bring up Horn from JV to fill the hole for the moment. He is a very capable QB. So I do not know About Friday..... We shall see....

Okay looks like at this point the coaching staff has decided to leave Horn on JV. The QB chores will be given to the Sr. wide-out Day #2. The feeling is that Thompson should be good to go next week. As that will be Week #1 of district against Bridgeport...Of Course things might change....

Wow did Graham need a good win. With the Starting Qb out on Homecoming no less. They did just that. #2 DAY stepped in and did a 1st rate job but the story of this game was the D. Dropping a big Ole 0 on Greenwood.. Only real Negative is a real good Ragers player was injured, but I was told it wasn't as severe as thought... Good win Graham 17-0.

I have never been one to talk to or about the coaching for the Graham Steers. I have made the occasional remark. I have said many times that they have a job to do. I am and will always be about the young men. This is what brings me to what I am about say in this post. This post is about an unjust removal of one of the potentially better players in the Steers program, but I would be saying this if it was an average player as well. This player is being punished because of what I believe to be the pure dislike of his parental guardian. Also, quite possibly the insistence of another parent that has a “STAR” player.
The H.C. is claiming the young man said A curse word…… Yes, they are removing him “FROM THE TEAM” for saying A curse word…. When in truth is the coach, and a much too influential players parent does not like the Guardian Parent. I have been to hundreds of games and have heard thousands of curse words from the fields. We would not have a team. The coach uses the rule that the playing of extracurricular activities is a “privilege not a right”. Well, someone should tell him that unless the ONE curse word was meant to slander someone directly in a public setting it is protected by the 1st Amendment. He CANNOT be punished for this it is a CIVIL RIGHTS VIOLATION. We like to use the 2nd Amendment here in Texas. That 1st one is good too.
It has come to light that this coach has been a bit of a bully of the years. To several ex-players and parents. I am all about the Kids If the Kids can’t play because the Coach is acting like this WELL SHAME!

This kid is getting State-Wide recognition. The coach won't put him on varsity AND won't even put him as a starter on JV. ALL because he doesn't like his parents. This is 100% true same for the post just before this one. Colton Carter is one of the best 10th grade OL. Coach don't like the parents (same parents) so he keeps him on JV.. This strikes me as a tale as old as time and one of two scenarios
1) Parent thinks kids are much better than they really are, so he blames the coaches.
2) The kids may be borderline varsity contributors etc, but they have behavorial issues so they are maybe put on JV to send a message to act right etc....pretty common and a non-story IMO

I am NOT a member of the media. I have never talked to the coaching staff. I am a complete Homer for the Graham Steers as ANY regular on here knows with absolute 100% assurance. I also know the players we are referring to. I absolutely without a doubt know the talent level. I know the parents. I know the AD/HC hates them. I DO-NOT care why... It is clear that coach is taking his frustration out on the parents two boys. This absolutely 100% no doubt happening. If the kids were average players then... You couldn't say much. All I can say is... It is very sad for these two players.

Keep in mind, There are many programs where the best players dont always get on the field for whatever reasons....could be behavorial issues w/coaches, getting in trouble in class, missing a workout etc....does anyone recall a 5-star running back a couple of years ago getting suspended the night before the state championship game?? He was definitely the best player but he didnt play

A few days ago made this statement " the qbs father has the coaches ear too". This is a statement, I should not have made. I regret making it. I have talked to the qbs father at length. Although in its entirety, I believe the actions of the coach are wrong, and unjust toward the two players. I also now believe the Qbs father DIDNOT play a role in this. As such I apologize for the apparently false claim. We all make mistakes. Even coaches.

So the scrimmage yesterday. The freshman played Wichita Falls old high. They absolutely dominated them. JV played the HawleyJV and they did very well as well.
The varsity played Hawleys varsity. The varsity for Hawkey is very very good. They will have a very good season they are currently rated 5th for their division. I believe they went to the state championship last year. They played very well too. During the scrimmage portion of the scrimmage they played match to match with Graham. During the live a quarter it was mostly in the Hawley end of the field. As Graham defense was on point with a few interceptions. Graham came within 2 yd of scoring but was held back. The live quarter ended 0-0. When you play a scrimmage you count them all. I was most impressed with the Graham secondary. Hawley has some very good receivers. Any 4a team would love to have. Graham receivers have to find their hands and that also is normal for a scrimmage. Thompson hit them several times resulting in drops... It is what it is. Not gonna be world beaters this year. Got all the ingredients though...

First game of the year went well. #15 played up to par. Threw for 4 tds and ran for 1. The running game was a big surprise as #2 had several nice long runs. Defense had flashes of greatness. They had a couple of ints and a few sacks, but did give up a bit to muchin other areas. Put a pin in this game. Not sure how good Bowie will turn out to be. They have a very athletic qb. So no big Ra Ra on this win. A win is a win though.

I have to mention something here that I see about the Graham quarterback number 15. Young Mr. Thompson is 100% focused and in the game. He really puts his heart into this. He is a phenomenal field general. Only Being a sophomore there is so much to learn and do but he already has such a leadership quality to him. Love or hate him, he gives it all he can out on that turf. Kudos young man. It is a joy to watch you play.

Last night's lost was a real head scratcher. If you look at the scoreboard. You would think that it was a blowout. Now I know when it comes down to it only the score counts now doubt. It was not a blowout in when it come to the anatomy of the game. Graham out gained Springtown 470 yards to 430 yards. Put the ball inside the 15 4 times and could not execute. Don't get me wrong Springtown made key stops and a good team can make the other team make mistakes. That for sure happened. Graham made a ton of ball errors. That is unlike the Steers very unlike them. It was very frustrating to watch. Kudos to POJO for a great win and Goodluck this season in D1. As I have said Graham WILL NOT be world beaters this year BUT it is there. The magic is right in front of us. JUST WAIT A BIT.

Yes I was there. Game was never in control by the refs. Several unsportsmanlike penalties on both sides. Both teams in my opinion were guilty of that. Refs could have taken a firm stand and made some ejections early. That might have saved the game. As far as how the game ended IMO. The momentum of the game had completely shifted to Graham's favor. Graham had stopped the Huskies and Scored on twice bringing the game to within 10 points. Then Graham got an INT on a long bomb. That's when the fight started. Here is Chan 3 video on the incident. judge for yourself. Keep in mind this was just the preverbal feather on the days back.
I would like to add another comment. There was someone on the Game thread on Football Friday night app. Claiming to be a Graham poster. He or she was posting very racist post all day. We ALL know I have been on it for years. This poster has NEVER been on that thread before. I believe he was nothing more than a TROLL trying to start trouble. This could have been a catalyst for a negative start to the game because it was very negative. No Graham poster in the 10 plus years I have been on that site has ever said a racist word. So I must believe it is a troll. IF I SAID IF a troll can cause this in a game. There should not be a chat option in these apps without accountability.

As far as the app, the chat feature has been disabled for now. I am sure that is why. It is all of our responsibility to report that sort of thing immediately. How it continued all day, if that is indeed the case, is a bit shocking and sad. I'm just outside looking in but this is disturbing to say the least. All it takes is a few if not just the one to absolutely ruin a great thing for the many. It seems to be the American way, now more than ever. Appreciate the post.

When I logged on yesterday. I instantly knew it was trouble. I did see the red flags on them but they were still up. I pushed the red flag too. Not sure how long that takes to get a post removed. During the game. I told my wife. "This is gonna get out of hand. If the refs don't do something".

So the Superintendents for both schools are saying the same thing. "Due to the number of players that were determined to be ejected from the Graham vs Hirschi game, the suspended game can’t be resumed. The District 3-4A District Executive Committee will have to meet to determine the official winner of the game. The suspended players will be benched for a minimum of one-half of the next contest." This came down this morning.
Now I am not sure what to take of the suspended players remark. Because if you seen the full view video of the "fight" the Wichita Falls sideline cleared out. No one was left on it they all came in. The Graham sideline. Two coaches held back the majority of the team and they stayed back. So how and who determines the suspensions will be a very interesting situation. Also I am not being a homer on this. It is just the truth. I know because I remember saying to myself "GUYS GET IN THERE" In hindsight. I am glad they didnt!
