1. LH fans: What do you think is Celina's biggest threat to beat you? What are you most concerned about?
2. Celina fans: Same question about LH.
My honest answer:
1. Their running game...if we can force them to pass and keep the qb in the pocket it's over.

I truly want to wish all players, fans, parents and Mods well. I hope there are no injuries and all return home safely. Even though it gets a little rough in here, I have to believe everyone feels the same as I do in that regard.

I believe I said the same thing last Sunday. If LH forces Celina to pass, then we win the game. It's that simple.
We see eye to eye. I'm going to bed though Super, I'll see you at the game. Save me a seat.

Wow what a day. I spend the entire day with a woman (my wife) shopping for 3 other women (my kids). Needless to say my advise was virtually useless. I did get the joy of paying for everything.
It cost me twice the average annual salary of Celina citizens...yep just over $1000.
Just kiddin around.
It has kinda been a fun week. Some of you Celina folk are tight lipped about how you think your team will fair. I understand that. We didn't hear much lip from Ingram leading up to that game either.
I hope everyone has safe travels tomorrow and I pray the players are injury free.
PS. Bobcats suck!

Been fun going back and forth wity you guys this week...untlimately, it comes down to 22 completely dedicated young men at a time, doing their best.
I know Celina's 11 will be there, and I have very little doubt that the LH 11 will be there, too.
Good luck to them all, play great football and stay injury free.
Regardless of the outcome the people of both towns will embrace these young men the same...with respect, admiration and adoration!

Yeah...you're right...its a little painful. But thats how my loyalty works...my team first, my district second , my region third...but more than that, how can anyone who claims to love football not have developed a respect for what the Panthers have accomplished thus far? I can still have a grudge...and I do...but respect trumps grudges in football when you are just watching from the sidelines...at least in my book.

GAMEDAY!!!!!!! After reading the information on this post, looking at the stats, and talking with numerous people about both teams, I have now reached a prediction that I am willing to post. The windy conditions will be a factor in the game and that plays into the hands of Liberty Hill. The LH offensive line will control the line of scrimmage and give enough room for the running backs to grind out their expected 4-6 yards per carry on almost every play. The LH defense will control the Celina running game and the wind will make passing difficult beyond 10 yards. This will play into the strength of the LH defense , which will give the Celina receivers problems.
Celina will play very tough and keep the game close until the second half. Then, the strength of the LH offensive line will start to arrest itself. I think the score could be as close as 14-14 at the half and LH will pull away in the second half. Final Score
Liberty Hill 25

Now my Bobcats. Wow what a bunch of coaches can do with their team. That was perfect execution tonight against the NASTY Slot. Wow what a game plan. You Bobcats executed and showed heart to take the game to the Panthers and you whipped them up and down the field. I am proud of you. We need to do this one more week. It's not finished yet. Now, I would like to throw this down.
Region 2 is looking pretty damn strong. Wouldn't you say?
Then ... anybody want to argue that Liberty Hill was the undisputed 3A State Champions in 2007?
Also ... it helps to actually play a tough schedule in pre-district.
Finally ... if Celina is fortunate enough to get #9. You might as well turn over the keys to the 3ADL to WildTexan!

Classy! Got to tell you, this is not my fight but my money is on the majority of the LH posters coming on the board and giving Celina their props that they are due. The one thing I can say about every LH POSTER that I have met is that they are classy and will give credit where credit is due.
With that said I will do the same. Celina's D was as impressive as any run D I have seen. Wherever LH ran, they met 3 or 4 hard hitting Celina defenders. I was impressed! Congrats on your win Celina

I am sure the LH kids and fans are spent.
If I were an LH fan, I would be pissed that you folks are feeling a need to imply that they are thin skinned. They are tough and good sports. They can take it!
Why? Because they know they will run at it again next season. They are not pretenders. They will trounce Wimberly many many times in the future. And ... they eventually will get an attempt to drop the Bobcats again.
Quit being so presumptuous to assume that the LH folks need any mercy! :hand:

Well Benny...to clear things up...I am not "feeling a need to imply that they are thin skinned"...I am consoling a fellow district foe who just had a tough loss. It's called empathy...I have been where they are now and understand...so get off your high horse and recognize a friend offering a hand to another friend.

Congratulations on a great game, Celina. We got skooled. You guys totally dominated the game and most definitely had a superior game plan. Best wishes next week cause if yall lose you'll never hear the end of the East Texas jibberish. Hopefully we'll see you next year.
Stay classy.

It has been a fun week on the Downlow. I have met some new 'friends' from Celina. Friends I am sure to joust with for years to come. It is all in fun.
Congratulations to Celina. The Bobcats were the best team on the field last night. Now, go take care of Carthage.
Thanks for the tremendous ride Panthers. It has been an unbelievable 2+ years. Now it is time to reload and come back even stronger next year.
I believe that last night we saw the best two football 'systems' in the state of Texas. I am sure these two teams will see each other in the future. Celina took this one. How about a rubber match this afternoon in the WalMart parking lot? :) Just kidding. Again, congrats to Celina.

They never quit until the final seconds ticked off. I enjoyed the back and forth with y'all as well. You, Come On(hand), and rundoe, Daddy D11 are a blast. See ya next year for that rubber match hopefully. Awesome atmosphere and I agree totally about these 2 programs being the best in Texas. Now we gotta go get #9!

It was a fun week, and now you have a true understanding of why most from Celina were reluctant to go over the top during the week! The young men from LH should be proud of their accomplishments, take a little time to recuperate and start building on the foundation laid for them by this group of outstanding players.

There was no quit in LH. Played hard every down and at the end of the 3rd quarter they put up 4 fingers, which I assume is for playing all four quarters.
This is the 3rd time I have seen LH play this year and I remain impressed. Your line and line backers are tremendous. You wear down teams with great technique and dicipline.
I was also impressed with your young men after the game, they joined in the prayer circle after the game, and while I know they must have been disappointed, they did not act out, or act mad, they shook hands and gave and received pats on the back from the Celina players in a show of mutual respect. I assure you Celina respects who you are and what you have accomplished.
The score may have been more in Celina's favor, but there was nothing easy about it. The Celina young men had to play their best and had to play hard every down or LH would have exerted their will. Beating a Liberty Hill team is not EASY! Your program and your young men are winners! Hope we get to do this again next year.

Not one that would indicate the size as I shoot a telephoto vrs. wide lens. It was not standing room only and seemed evenly split.
I have to recognize the LH fans that gave the Bobcats a standing ovation at the end of the game. Well done!

Good thing the game is at Texas Stadium. We will need the extra room. The Longview News-Journal estimated 12,000 people at the Gilmer vs. Carthage game 2 weeks ago at Nacogdoches. East Texas will represent! We will need plenty of seats.

Congratulations are definitely due for that Celina team. What a game plan, and excellent execution!!! Reminds me of the Panthers last year.
I personally will be watching where the young Mr. Lavey heads to college, and hopefully the next level. The kid is tremendous, and is by far and away the best LB I have scene at that age. He is "As Advertised"!!!
fyi....He would look good wearing #60 in Burnt Orange!!
Panthers, you made one heck of a run, and have absolutely no reason to hang your heads. You are an awesome bunch of kids, and next year will start a new streak. Good job boys!!!

I read it and I kept my mouth shut as well MN and that boy of yours is a powerhouse and you especially have my props for not acting like Daddy Dearest when others, some from LH, enticed you to do so. Hands down the best game I have been to this season and I was thrilled to see such competition.
As for classy or no, at this point, whatever....Celina won this round. Go out classy or don't, but this year, last night, Celina won the right to play in the state game.
And for the rest of you guys, this IS a football INTERNET board.....not the Governor's Ball. I try to wear my tiara when I post, but it slips every now and again. I'll bungee it in this afternoon and I'll cut everyone else the same respect.

Well, the streak has ended. LH rattled off 38 in a row and that's something to really be proud of. Hopefully, now all the people in LH will sit back and realize how great it is that we have been blessed to be a part of something so amazing and fun to watch! I for one, am almost glad that it ended at the hands of Celina. And I know I will get alot of weird responses to saying this probably, but there is no one in the state of Texas that has one more game and more Titles than the Celina Bobcats. So it's only fitting that they ended our streak and that they get to play in the last High School game at Texas Stadium, a stadium that they've pratically owned the past 10 years. With that said, all week my only question against the Bobcats was their Offensive and Defensive lines, and let me tell you my questions are answered now. Specially on the offensive side of the ball, your line flat out knocked us on our asses every single play and your running backs blocked better than any I've ever seen. The defensive line I think did what it had to do, but I think they were never truly tested like LH test's other opponents because for some reason in this game we thought we needed to throw it over your heads instead of running down your throats? Which you never even proved you could stop, but I won't go into that. Bar none that Lavey kid is the real deal, he brought the wood on a number of hits that just made me laugh and be thankful that wasn't me getting my clock cleaned:eek: I must say though, he should lose the neck roll. It just looks dumb on a kid as tall as he is, he would look more human like and less alien if he took it off! I think the game ball for Celina however goes to the coaching staff, specially in the first half, that entire first half was PERFECTLY executed. From the first play of the game that could not have been drawn up any better to the timely QB sweeps that resulted in a handful of long third down conversions. All in all, the Celina coaching staff put it to a coaching staff in LH that had been doing the same thing to our opponents for almost 3 straight years now, it was definitely different seeing LH on the recieving end of a whipping. Oh, and one more thing, I would like to excuse myself from the CROW helping:D I think the Celina posters can back me up and say I was one of the more quiet and more respectful LH posters this week, so I think I deserve to skip this helping of crow.

What a great game plan by the Celina coaching staff. Even more impressive was how the Bulldog players executed that plan almost flawlessly. I am sure the Celina coaching staff has put in a few hours of film study on the Panthers since that State Champion game in '06...and it showed.
Caleb Lavey may possibly be the best all around football player I have seen take the field this year. His speed and size were on display from the first play of the game.
Cody Worrell was playing in a different gear. His reads were impeccable all game long. Just when the LH defenders thought they had the Bobcats stopped, Worrell took off out of the pocket like he stole something and rolled to another first down.
Good luck to Celina in the title game. I will be pulling for the Bobcats to get their 9th State Championship.

Yes, which is about 5 above average. Plus, how many times was #12 sacked before he could even get a pass off? Those don't go down as pass attempts, but they are still "attempts".

Correct me if I'm wrong, but in a game where you are behind from the opening minutes, you will have to pass a few more times, correct? There was a point in the 3rd quarter where you had to hit some passes to have any hope of catching up.
By the way, I agree that you do not deserve any "crow" based on your comments the past week. You were one of the "reasonable" voices. And, despite my personal connection, I would agree that our DL is probably the weak point in our defense if you had to choose one. Last night, however, they were not weak. They were part of a well oiled machine.

Actually Daddy D11, Celina did prove they could stop the run, all night, minus the one big play by fickel. We were forcing ya'll into 4th downs every possession. When LH found themselves down in a 21 point hole with absolutely NO answer for Celina's offense, they had to try something because a long grinding drive (which you never had) wasn't going to cut it, it would waste time, and Celina would turn right around and answer, so you can't fault them for attempting to pass. Both of Celina's lines dominated the opposition all night. Every player for Celina executed their job near flawlessly all night!

I decided to make the trip to this game because of all it stood for and the sheer fact that it was Liberty Hill and Celina. Let me start with congratulating Celina for doing exactly what Celina does in big games. Especially those that have historic impact. They came out and hit harder, blocked better, and played with more emotion. I wont take away from the game and say LH came out flat. I want to make sure that Celina fans understand I cant have more respect for a program.
I will say though and I'm sure this will get many responses, that LH did not lose the game as bad as the score reflects. I personally beleive that as good as Celinas game plan was it was helped out by the OC of LH. Obviously I cant say that he is a bad play caller. 14-0 is not arguable. But he completely blew the game. Liberty hill yes only passed 7 times. Im not sure that stat would be the same if you counted how many times they TRIED to pass as well. LH dose not pass. 3 or 4 times is pushing it. It is either a TD or drive killer in the offense. If sacked, LH does not have plays designed to make up 2 and 20. They can, and do often, but its not drawn up that way. Yes Celina was having success and keeping the gains to 3 or 4 yards. But thats the idea. Thats what they want. First downs. Every time they would get a drive started, they tried to throw. I understand that with C's D up in the box and just coming, they thought they had it, but there coached better than that and with the wind and the first 5 attempts not even showing a glimpse of success, its time to sart just doing what you do. Thats when the big runs come. Drive, Drive, Drive and boom. Thats why the offense is considered unstoppable. (not last night) I know, save it. I wont even get into the first 4th and 1 on our own 20, where even though conventional wisdom says punt even into a powerful wind, we didnt go for a foot. This makes me sound rediculous but LH had gone for it in the same situation all season long. A 20 yard punt didnt hurt any worse than a 4th down stop at that point. I really wish Celina could have got the game that LH is so capable of. I felt sure we had another classic on our hands. Thats not the way I pictured the streak ending.
Let me be clear though this would have only created a shootout and made it a better game. The Defensive ends were non existent on LH's defense and that kept cutting off the ability of Lattimore. It was the worst tackling effort I have seen from an LH team as well, which might be because those backs especially 27, are probably one of the best highschool football runners I have had the pleasure of watching. At my age I have seen a few. Congrats Celina. You are the Kings of Highschool football. At least for another year.

Oh I completley agree with having to pass late in the game, but we took ourselves out of our own gamplan on the very first series of the game. I said in another thread that alot of that was due to Celina's play, I give you all the credit in the world. But watching this offense for 7 years now, we did ALOT of things differently last night than I've ever seen us do on the Offensive side of the ball, alot of new and different formations and we rarely, if ever ran our bread and butter plays. We never tried to sustain a long, time consuming drive like you guys. Every other play in the first half was an attempt to pass the ball. Yes, we only had probably 15 offensive plays in the first half it felt like, but still ,we never tried to establish our normal grind it out gameplan. And you know what, that would have most likely failed last night too, but I would have alteast liked to have seen Celina stop us at what we do best instead of LH almost assuming you were going to stop what we normally do and trying to do something else. But give TONS of credit to your Defense, you forced us into alot of situations we did not want any part of.
The Celina coaching staff had a perfect game plan on both sides of the ball, it was near perfect, it was perfect. Your QB was instructed to let the play clock wind down before every play and your defense gang tackled all night, and that's very hard to do against our misdirection offense. Like I've told a few other Celina posters in PM's, it was a whopping from the very start, no if, and's or but's about it.

The game was electric and even tho LH could not score it did not mean they did not hit and scrap and fight. It was some good old fashioned football and a real treat to see. I would rather see a team that played like that any day. I will always love the guys that stick to it and play their hearts out. No doubt it was left on the field.
Vance did what he had to do. It became apparent that his defensive game plan was not working and he was in a position to try to win a shoot out against the best defensive team he had faced the last 3 years. I don't blame him one bit for the calling. And daddy d 11, you always are class. You may indeed skip the crow and come on over and get some of our barbecue.

Wow is all I can say after the complete pounding that Celina put on LH.
Celina won every facet of the game...every single one. From the opening kickoff until the final tick expired it was apparent that Celina was the boss.
Congratulations are in order for a phenomenal game plan that was executed perfectly. There were few...very few times when the momentum could have been swayed but the Bobcats slammed the door as soon as it opened. I have watched all of 2 of LH's games for the past 8 years and other than, maybe, against Burnet in 02' they have not been whipped that bad before.
My predictions throughout the week were not, entirely, designed to piss off the Bobcats or Celina faithful. I honestly thought we were a 14+ point favorite.
I've replayed, in my head, most of the game and I have to go back to my initial word to this post...WOW. We got smoked like a bag of has on a Cheech and Chong movie.
I'm an excitable, sarcastic, proud, and I can be cocky from time to time. But, last night...and still today I have been humbled by a great town and a great program.
Good luck next week Celina.
Feel free to put as much crow on my plate as you wish...I deserve it.

Agreed, unfortunately the ends were ineffective due to assignments on most plays. It seemed as though Celina knew to run a sweep when they were to "shot" or stunt inside and up-the-gut when they were given outside contain. It was, without question, Celina's night. Even the TD pass caught at the back of the endzone... WOW! I did feel that the best chance for LH to grab the momentum was given away when we had you pinned deep on 4th down punting into the wind and committed back-to-back D offsides. I pretty much knew it was over then. Once again, I love all that your Program stands for and the class with which the players conduct themselves. If the streak had to end, then it ended on the right game.

You obviously haven't seen Carthage play this year.

Yeah Daingerfield is also playing for a state championship this weekend. And I know you won't believe it but I'll tell you anyways, this isn't that same Celina team, I promise you.

I believe you. I have no doubt Celina has vastly improved since the Daingerfield game. The Championship game against Carthage will be one for the ages. Can't wait.
