Exactly. We saw most of the second half of their game against llano, they looked big but they also looked as if they were wearing down fast. They also don't have near the quickness that our lines (O&D) have, at least not that night.
They are slower, almost lumbering, but very strong. But, I don't think they'll be able to maintain the level it takes to go 4 full quarters on a team like ours...especially now that I hear they've sat their starters out for two quarters almost every game...or whatever it was that Bulls fan was slinging.
Had LLano played the first half the way they were playing in the second half they wouldn't have had quite the ground to make up against them. We also saw LLano putting alot of pressure on the QB (as you were saying above), and it was VERY effective...the jackets just got revved up too late in the game and had some silly turnovers late. If we play our game and keep it off the carpet, they are very very beatable.

Actually, after comparing some game film, I would rank the LH defense behind Prosper and maybe even Argyle, and somewhat similar to Burkburnett and Monahans.

The LH offense looks a little bit better than Llano, but not any better than Monahans.

Bottomline, nothing the Bulls have'nt seen before. JMO:)

Budman, I'm very disappointed in all your Bridgeport buddies. They have really been slacking, this week could be a lot more fun if they'd get their butts on here and start entertaining me, I'm getting bored.

And keep thinking we are just like Llano and Monohans. You will soon see:)

Okay, here goes.

Liberty Hill wins: if they can put pressure on the Bulls QB, if not it will be a long night for the Panther secondary. The Bulls have a fearless receiver who run great routes over the middle and is not afraid to take a hit. Another runs routes like Lance Alworth and has hands like Raymond Berry.
And, the Panthers cannot put the ball on the ground like they did in the Wylie game and survive it. (Yes, Super_R, we know they were "unforced" ), Panthers still have to take care of the ball.

Bridgeport wins: if they don't come out slow on defense and not decide to stop the run until the second half, play the first half like the Monahans game and some people will get an early jump home. Odds are you will be to far behind to come back if that were to happen.
If QB and halfback are healthy enough to use their quickness.
And the Bulls must always know where Lattimore is or they will end up with their QB undressed and on the sideline.

Sounds good! LH needs a good test before the State Championship:devil:

Not trying make any excuses Hop, but you saw LH in week 2 and Bridgeport in week 13. I'm telling you, in week 2 I was impressed with the victory but knew that alot of things had to happen for this team to get back to State. After seeing them in week 9 against Wimberley and now against Vernon and Sweetwater. Our defense has gotten worlds better every time I've seen them play and the offense is easily at the level of the past 2 title teams.

Prosper definitely has the better D, hands down. The Bulls still hung 36 on them. LH may have the best O as far as rushing, but Monahans was very impressive overall with the best QB we faced all year.

Miscellaneous comments from the Llano newspaper about their game with Bridgeport:
__________________________________________________ __

Wall Street would love to have the Bulls Bridgeport has. The 11-0 eleven, November 22, turned back a no-quit, dedicated Llano Yellow Jacket squad, 41-27, in the area round of the Class-3A state playoffs.

"We played one of our better games," linebacker and tight end, Walker Woolman, said, "but that's one of the best teams I've ever faced. They are big and fast."

"I was worried about their big-play capability," Llano head coach David Yeager stated. Yeager was not just delivering coach-speak in the days leading up to the contest when he said, "The Bulls may be the best team I've seen on tape in my four years here."

Cameron Green showed Corbin, and a sizeable crowd on hand, he can run, too, with a 40-yard gallop to the Jackets' seven. Corbin got his second TD, his 26th of the season, from the one-inch line. It was 13-0 with 36 seconds left in the first quarter.

"Greens are exceptional at running the ball," Llano defensive coordinator Jimmy Thomas declared. "They might be the two best athletes we've seen all year." Boy, I bet they won their share of neighborhood two-on-two games.

The first two quarters did not show us at our best—we didn't tackle very well," Yeager lamented.

Llano refused to ask for a bailout like the one Texas Tech was requiring in Norman. Aviles, who ran for 108 yards, picked up 14 of those and moved the ball to the foes' 37-yard line.

Davis' turn was next, and he bulled his way for 35 yards to the two. Clayton Maples took over to record his 20th touchdown of the year.

"We moved the ball well," Maples noted, "but, oh, yes, did they hit hard." Clayton registered 74, of the most-impressive 344 yards, the Jackets collected on the ground.

Their linebackers are really good," Woolman pointed out. "They come and hit you, help you up and hit you again."

__________________________________________________ __

Sounds as if Llano was at least somewhat impressed with the Bulls. As I recall, LH didn't run all over Llano.

I hate to run this in the ground, but I still believe a lot of how this game plays out depends on whether the Green brothers recover enough from injuries suffered against Monahans to be able to perform well.

And speaking of that, has anyone heard any updates as to their outlook by Saturday?

Don't worry about our QB...he can't run or throw. Just keep you eyes on our running backs. Our QB is the majician that makes the LH offense work. Watch the film again...how long did it take you to find the ball. Who did you think he gave it to and who really has it?

Against the three teams in our district not ranked in the bottom five in the state, LH averaged 41ppg and Llano averaged 21ppg. I'd say a 20 point difference is a little bit...compared to 10,000.

With all due respect to Bridgeport...some of you guys really need to stop posting this article (this is the 2nd or 3rd time I have seen it). Llano is good, but not THAT good. They got about as far as any team with their talent level should have gotten. They are a mediocre play off team. Average play off team at best....no offense intended, its just the truth.

Sure, they gave LH a good run at it. So did Burnet. So did 3-7 Brownwood. But they ALL LOST. Stop trying to make your case on the backs of an average play off team.

In my view, you guys have earned more respect than your average play off team. You are now in the upper tier of play off teams. Act like it. Sure, give LH their due, they have earned it...but stand your ground, be confident in your boys, don't flinch...stand tall...then execute. The next team that beats LH will have to believe they can indeed beat them...they shouldnt try and make US believe they can by posting articles from a defeated team.

Time for me to weigh in on this one. If our Green brothers are healthy then we all are in for one helluv a football game. If they are not healty or don't play then as bad as I hate to say it this will be a win for LH. Now I have heard all kinds of storys on whether they are playing or whether they are not. I am so disappointed that we went all season with no injuries and we finally get the game we wanted and we have some key injuries.

I think both towns have looked forward for weeks now the possibility of this potential matchup. Lets all pray that both teams are 100%. If they are, I will promise you will not want to miss this one. I have been following high school football for a long time, this Bport team is special. I already know the Liberty Hill team is special (you don"t put together a streak like that without being special). We could be in for a special night.

Sad to hear about the injuries...it really is sad for the kids involved. I hope they repair in time for the game.

With this said...if only two injuries would make the difference between you thinking a win or a lose...against LH...then I would say you were going to lose anyways.

Well, I was surprised that no LH poster commented on the high praise Llano players and coaches bestowed on the Bulls after Bridgeport beat them. (I posted comments from the Llano newspaper for LH's edification a few posts back.)

I thought sure there would be some immediate claims made by the LH folks that those quotes were faked, or that their had to be misprints, or that the Llano coaches and players had the Bulls mixed up with those purple people.

But only silence......maybe LH just wants to ignore any information that suggests a game might actually break out in Waco on Saturday night.

I think Bridgeports back up qb and rb can run our offense personally, i know odds are much better with the starters, but that is why the 2nd string played so much this year in case of injuries. Dont count us out if unhealthy we have at least 6 WR that are willing to go over the middle and catch the ball and our offense can be great if they take care of the pigskin

I'm not taking any particular comfort in citing the Llano game.

Just to say that LH and BPort had a common opponent, and that is about the only point of direct comparison between the two teams this year.

And it seemed the Llano players thought BPort was one of the best teams they had ever faced.

I'm sure LH was another that fits into that category.

Its quite simple... while i don't neccessarily agree with all the comments of some of my Celina brethren they do not hide their support for their team under the guise of some statement wherein they chuckle to themselves thinking the rest of us are not smart enough to figure it out. Of course you can continue to ride their coattails sticking up for them at every turn. That is your
prerogative. I, in turn, will take it one game at a time with the hope that our boys rise to the occasion and win the game. Hopefully, they take nothing for granted and move along one game at a time.

I hear you, Bullish. It makes a little more sense to me now. But I have personal experience with many Llano comments after games...they have a deep seated dislike of LH (and especially Wimberley)...and would NEVER give them props when appropriate. I am not calling them liars, I am just saying they would find it far easier to compliment a relative new comer than either one of us (by the way, they STILL don't give props to Wimberley for their '05 Championship...they just seem bitter about it).

The only time that I have ever hear or read a coach talk negtively about a team, after losing to them, was Fitzhenry (Giddings). The rumor is only his mother likes him.

Oh...after reading that article, for the 4th time, I crapped myself...I was so frozen with fear that my bowels let loose.

I would actually agree that your posts do have some measure of value, just not that much. And before you say anything, I already value mine even slightly less. Really? So you are an expert on all the possible blitzes that can possibly be contrived against the Slot by the multiple defenses that the Slot T coud face? You should take up coaching. If you are as good at that as your meaningless drivel you would be quite successful.

Ahem. You people have been busy. Posting, I mean. Some of us have to work during the day in a way that doesn't involve time or energy for posting on an internet BBS. ...but that does involve raising and educating young minds to prepare them to become contributing members of our society.

(Of course, we also firmly indoctrinate them in that whole "Bulls rule ALL" thing, too. :D )

In all seriousness, don't think that just because every Bridgeport poster isn't here posting every third second that we have somehow lost confidence in our team or are afraid of LH. We'll face them just like every other challenge we've faced all year long--and somehow or another, we've come out on top every single time. I expect this time will be no different.

And another thing: some of us just plain prefer to let our boys say it on the field. I know some of you love smack talk--and thank GOODNESS a few more Bulls posters have come out of the woodwork to relieve Budman and Bullaholic, who have had to pretty much carry Bridgeport's smack talking duties solo--but I don't like it and don't usually do it. So you guys carry on, but don't expect everyone to join in. ;) :D

Win or lose, I'll be back here either in the wee hours Saturday night or Sunday after church. I'll be either eating it or serving it, but crow will definitely be on the menu. :D

To be quite honest I think it would be great to see another Celina/LH game as it was one of the best I have seen regarless the outcome.

Nice cover...you just don't want to face us again. I'd choose the same if I were in your position.

Now that is a a smart man!

Straight up question for the Liberty Hills fans--no sarcasm intended:

How well does LH pass the ball, IF they needed to get long 1st down yardage on 3rd down or wanted to try to surprise someone for a quick score?

The passing game is very sneaky. The QB has a very good arm. They will do it when you least expect it. The average is usually 2-3 passes a game. Sometime none. :)

Chat room info. ;) ;)

They can throw if need be. Ask Burnet, they know the answer

Another question: If it came down to a close game tied up near or at the end of regulation, or overtime, does LH have a kicker that can kick a FG?

The QB for Liberty Hill can throw the ball with better than average accuracy when he needs to. Since they only pass like 2 times a game it's extremely impressive to me that he is able to hit his targets on those occasions. You hear QBs talk about the flow of the game and developing a rhythm....Braden Fickle has no such luxury...he gets one or 2 shots and more often than not he delivers....

I think in a passing offense he could easily pass for 2,500-3,000 yards in a 10 game schedule with more than his share of TD passes.

And if you really want to know how good he is at passing....ask the Burnet fans and players who's hearts were broke due to right arm of Braden Fickle.

I think we completed a 40 yard pass on 3rd and 20 last week, and then a TD on I believe 1st and 15. Those might not be exact downs, but their close. Most of the time we won't throw unless we are getting it shoved back down our throat, which hasn't happened since Cuero in 2005. So I bet we throw 3 passes this weekend, and only complete 2, just a guess

I think he kicked a 30 yard FG last week and it looked to be his max.

He can kick MUCH further than 30 yds...that's Golden Toe.

If you get a chance watch #25 kick during pre-game...

his range is greater than 30....I would think it to be closer to 35-40 range.

great technique as well...he will be one of the best kickers in the area when he is a senior in 2 years.

Last week didn't he barely make a 30 yarder? Not trying to knock the kid at all, but I was just saying. That's still a damn good kick!

O.k.--Thanks for the responses. I think all of you know the throwing and running capabilities of our QB, and know that we have a pretty good FG kicker capable of hitting from 35-40 yds.
