I have to highly disagree with you about Cobb! The kid is big and strong, good speed, quick feet, hard to tackle, and doesnt make silly mistakes. His passing last night didnt impress me all that much, but as a whole, the kid is a hoss and a half, and a VERY good, all around athlete.

As a whole, Sweetwater just played a terrible 2nd 1/2, made lots of silly mistakes, and Decatur took advantage of most of them, like a good team should. I'm just thankful they did'nt manage to take advantage of all the Mustang mistakes. If they had, they would have put up about 60. If you take those same 6 turnovers and put them on Decatur, then Sweetwater wins this game by probably about the same score. Thats just the way it works. It's football, and thats what many of us love about it.

As I said, Sweetwater made a lot, and I do mean A LOT of silly mistakes. But all of them are very fixable. Mistakes are sometimes the best way to learn. Maybe the sting of this loss will help that learning process sink in a little faster, and a little deeper. We obviously have a lot of talented kids, that are capable of making another deep playoff run, but to be honest, this is probably exactly what they needed, to light a fire under their butts, and make them work harder to learn from those silly mistakes, so they wont be making them when district and/or the playoffs role around.

Congrats to the Decatur faithfuls. You have a fine football team, and a dang good QB, I dont care what anyone says. I look for the Eagles to have a great season, and could easily see them still playing in December.

Sweetwater Season not over. One set back does not make team bad. Sweetwater will be ok . Still many games to go. BUT Canyon waiting. How Mustang respond in next two week very important. Little Joe Think Sweetwater start downhill slide. He say if lose three in row team start fall apart. Hoss say " mustang #@%*"to that Idea. Sweetwater not lose three in row. Han Sing say Sweetwater Bounce back and play hard against Canyon.

I direct this post to some Sweetwater posters, not all. "Speed" is not the only component which makes a team "talented"---there are many factors tangible and intangible which cause a team to be "talented". After listening to last night's game, I don't think I could honestly say that Sweetwater has more "talent" than Decatur or that Sweetwater is the better team on one of their "good" nights. I am not a coach, but just a fan and my feeling is that Sweetwater does have a great deal of team speed , especially in the backfield---but it seems that all "great" wishbone teams also have a big, "hammer" of a back in the "Up" position to make the "hard" yards and "wear" the other team's defense down.(I remember the Lewisville 96' team ). I don't think Sweetwater has this in their "mix" yet---their coach is using their talents in the best way that he can, and as the season goes on he will undoubtedly find even more effective ways to use the Mustangs talent. I think Decatur and Sweetwater are both still going to have very good playoff runs, and I wish them both well---except against the Bulls.

Yea I said that about our whole team playing like the Merkel Badgers and people get pissed because I didnt give Decatur credit...when they were'nt too impressive either...we helped them more than they did themselves...But good luck on the rest of yalls season Decatur

I think all his posts should be copied, distrubuted to the team to read, right before practice today, then 07 should be tossed into the middle of the field house with them.
LOL :D If there IS anything left of him after that, I bet none of it gets on here again.

Decatur went intot he game thinking they could do some good things on special teams to exploit Sweetwaters kickoff return it sounds like....and what do you know....it worked. Great teams make mistakes from time to time but great teams fix those mistakes after they happen. Hitting someone forcing the ball loose is football. ITS CALLED DEFENSE! Does anyone is Sweetwater think they just got beat by a better team or is the whole town brainwashed?

I sat next to ole Stang Red and watched this game. Swater has a very good team, they are very fast. They perty much run at will in the first half. The second half was a different story the pooch kicks killed em and their O was on the sideline most of the half. If the O ever installs a passing game they would be great with the running game they have. Decatur is a very good team also. Their spec. team is good, you can tell they work on it alot. Seem like them kicks would never come down and only travel 10 or 15 yards down field. The Cobb kid was good. His passing didn't look on track, but this kid is strong, you would think he was down and the next thing you know he would get out of it. Also I didn't catch this kids name, #1 was very quick. I thought that the Oates kid would do more, but he didn't. I enjoyed watching this game it was a good one. Sorry that Swater didn't win, but you know this loss may make them better. Good Luck to both teams on the rest of the season...

Yea we will be alright but the DC needs to get them doing Tackling drills for about 45 minutes!

Last night should have taken many blinders off. From the coaches to the players to the fans.
Great win Decatur.
You cannot give a class act like Decatur that many minutes with the ball and expect any other outcome.
Mistakes should be learning experiences. If last night was not a wake-up scream we "mustangs" might not go past bi-district.It might be fun to have a basketball season for a change.

If the Mustangs continue on this course without learning/adjustments, we might not get out of district.

AMEN!....to all posters on this thread...i apologize for some posts made by some posters. I gave credit last night to decatur cuz they deserved it....and when i post something about the team or what should be done, my statements are somewhat credible, i at LEAST kind of know whats going on in the program, i DID play under K. Jackson and was with varsity 2 years, yes we lost games that we could have won and yes we all got mad at ourselves about it...the thing is, i think the team KNOWS they lost, i mean they DID play in the game last night. so what they are doing is they are going over the film from last night, plan this comming week what they need to work on, and get ready for canyon...thats all you can do cuz thats just how the game is

good game decatur, good luck mustangs, and good luck Canyon on this upcomming game!

Amen Reg, let's stop all the arguing, whining and arm chair quarterbacking, fix what's broke and look FORWARD to next weeks Eagles.
