I'm gonna throw a new one in there.....one that is current. ARGYLE vs. GILMER is getting to be a pretty stout game every year. Lots of talent on both sides when these two schools meet on the gridiron of glory, and draws lots of interest from the N.Texas and E. Texas areas.

We were always trying to get Celina to play...couldn't get them to win enough to make it...we do look foward to our yearly get together...means that both are still taking care of buisiness.

Sealy the heated rivalry that no one can explain. Threats of fights during football and basketball games and escorts to the buses afterwards are very sadly frequent. Thing is, when I ask the kids why the hatred for Sealy, no one will speak up. Maybe some old timers from each community can post the origins of these hostilities.

Anyhow, you get the point, every week in district is a heated rivalry game.

Tough for El Campo to consider Wharton a rivalry when they are 22-2 against them over the last 24 years.

Bay City used to be a huge rivalry for El Campo but they have been terrible for several years.

For the longest time I'd certainly go with the one I played in.

5 miles apart .... and I lived on the same street as APHS (2.9 miles from my driveway to their parking lot), but was blue and white thank God. Growing up we just couldn't freaking beat them. Then things changed, and my class (class of '98) went and did something that nobody thought had been done before. My class NEVER LOST to them. 7th through senior year we had a clean sweep. 7th grade was just a normal football game that we won. 8th, it went down to a 2pt conversion in the final minute. Freshman year we were a combined JV squad and we won handily. Sophmore year ... yeah, we rolled as it was THAT year in Ingleside. As a Junior though, we dominated the game but it ended as just 6-0 (because that's how things work in this game). Senior year ... holy crap. We opened with a two play scoring drive that took hardly any time, they fumbled the ensuing kick off, and we went right back in and scored. That all went to crap as we went down big (29-14) before coming back 31-29 and having to watch as their all-region kicker lined up a game winning FG attempt (that missed) with seconds left.

At the time our stadium still had the old original concrete main stand (soooo much better than this all aluminum bleacher crap now) and actually housed more butts in the seats. Lowest attendance during my time at school that I can remember was in the 7,000's and that was with only (both sides together) seating 3500.

And this has potential to last for several years. Brownwood Fresh and the Stephenville Fresh are both truly great teams and it will be interesting to see them play in a few weeks.

dont put a lot of stock into how good freshman teams are...our last 2 freshman teams blew out Stephenville...this years frosh Indians are pretty nasty as well..stephenville's strength is their excellent progressive developement efforts making solid varsity players

Man, I miss this one. It may not ever happen again, though.

There were some great games between these two teams for a long time. My sophomore year (2002) was the rain-soaked, muddy slugfest we won 10-0 at Pilot Point with The Streak on the line, going up against G.A. Moore after he left Celina earlier that spring to coach his alma matter one last time. That was a fun week. People were camped out over at Massey Stadium for several days waiting to get in, my dad and his good friend included. Great atmosphere and great memories.

Lovejoy is growing by about 100-150 every realignment. We should cap around 1900 or so before we run out of land. Watch Frisco and Prosper for massive growth.

Lovejoy only moved up to 4A (now 5A) by 21 kids. We have been the smallest team in our district for the last 6 years. Our growth has been very slow and steady. Depending on the economy we grow by 75-150 kids every realignment. Prosper grew by over 800 kids the last two years. Celina and Argyle are both due for huge population growth. I can also see Prinecton, Anna, Melissa and Van Alstyne blowing by us in enrollment.

I agree that Heritage came out of nowhere and grew fast. With a strong economy a lot of schools are going to grow fast.

Atlanta vs Liberty-Eylau is a huge rivalry. Usually a real nail-biter. Dates as far back as I can remember. Atlanta beat L-E before they went and won the state championship in 2006 even.

Heritage will be at least 5A next realignment. The house building over in Midlothian is booming. They are building neighborhoods left and right.
