Classic matchup of offense vs defense. I tend to go with the defensive side of things in a game like this, but feel the Yellowjackets will somehow be able to make enough stops on the Graham offense to just get by. Really, all they need is one stop per half, lol. Graham, on the other hand, will need lots of stops AND need to keep pace of the Stephenville scoring machine....a tall order indeed. I don't think you can negate Stidham and Williams enough the whole game.....their offense is much better than that of Wylie. Usually defense wins the game, but in this instance I truly believe offense will win the game. Does Graham have enough offense??? Tonite we'll find out.

Can the ville be beat?? I think their record shows anything is possible!! The ville could win if graham kicks their own butt, I just don't see that happening !! Not taking anything away from a really good program the ville is top notch for sure, that's why we wanted yall to win your play off games!! We wanted a shot , And we get that shot tonight!

They were saying that the reason Sville scored 54 points in the first match up was bc they were prepared to face Stidham; but that when he got hurt it changed our game plan that they wasn't prepared for.

I think Graham definitely has the right pieces to take down S'ville, if they use them correctly. I think the key to slowing down their offense is to drive the O-line back into Stidham's face. If your ends go wide he'll pull it down and burn you. 4 good bullrushes and a spy.... make him beat you with his arm from the pocket. Good luck getting Williams on the ground though.

Well losing always sucks but if you gonna lose, at least it's to a classy and well deserving opponent. I saw big 76 immediately go to the Jacket coaches to shake their hands. Good luck to that young man in the future. The Steers played a spectacular game in all phases. The special teams made a huge difference but the defense really slowed us down. They are legit that's for sure. With Stidham getting knocked out it was nice to see Chavy finish his career on the field. Congrats Graham and finish the job. Hope you guys handle the eagles next week. Congrats to the Jacket players on a great season. Many ended their very successful football career but should hold their head up high. Some other thoughts on the game;

1. I really enjoyed the bands joining together to perform our national anthem. That was cool.

2. Three huge plays really swung the game IMO. The first muffed pooch kick that allowed the Steers to take the lead back, the kick return for a TD after Sville went up 21-20, and the tipped pass #7 caught on 3rd and long when Turner threw it up for grabs. Championship caliber teams make those plays and IMO the Steers will be in Arlington.

3. I really don't feel near as bad as I usual do after getting knocked out. Graham was just a better team than us in all 3 phases tonight.

4. I really enjoyed the combined team prayer after the game and great sportsmanship showed between the two programs.

Dang. Good ball game. Best defense I've seen in a long time. Was fun watching Stidham and Co. during this years run.

Stidham was 10 of 20 for 133. 14 carries for 47 yards and 2 tds. Williams had 16 carries for 88 yards.
Don't think they have been shut down like this all year, great defense by our guys. Thought the ville had the mo after their first drive in the second half but the KO return TD got it back for us and we never looked back. Congrats to both teams, fun atmosphere.

Thanks for info on posessions and Wylie game info! IMO, Graham needs to have long sustained drives that just eat up the clock to beat Ville. By doing this you hope that it will keep the most amazing offense in the world out of sync. This also limits the opportunites of the best quarterback in the history of high school football to hurt you. Limiting Ville to less possessions will obviously turn it into a lower scoring game which I think gives a better chance to win!

After they took advantage of the special teams opportunities, they carried the momentum the rest of the game. That #5 really shines tonight! MVP of the game IMO! Graham's DB's and LB's stole the show. Best fundementally tackling team I've seen this season.

Wouldnt have mattered, Graham wasnt losing. Why put them in on D with such a physical Graham team when they were obviously rattled just playing O. Graham was too much.

None of them were as deadly as Graham. It's not even close. I thought there was a time or two when we went quick tempo that we kinda took their Dline out of it. There were sucking some wind and I don't know why we didn't do that more. That kickoff coverage was terrible and hurt us bad. Graham did a great job on their kickoff strategy and brought it to us. They hit hard, get after the qb, and tackle phenomenally. I thought we had our chances, but when you play great teams you can't make mistakes. Much respect to Graham because they caused most of them. We hear about teams having a great defense and how they will slow us down, and then we win by 30. But.....The Steers have the best defense I have seen at least since last years Kilgore team. None of this matters at this point. I was putting my cans away in the garage but decided to keep them handy. I just might drive over to Aledo and support those Steers. Maybe stop and pick up some crow on the way!

Good post, classy.....not many have mentioned this but I will, that Jacket defense was very surprising. Many went off some high scoring shootouts and assumed they had no defense. Wrong!!!! Combined score was less than most predicted the loser would score. I thought villes D played very well.

After watching the game on tape a couple of times it is obvious that special teams killed any chance Stephenville had in the game. There was only one decent play made by Sville's special teams and that was the late punt return. Not sure how many points were the direct result of Sville special teams miscues but it seemed like quite a bit. Also, I did not like Sville's gameplay or adjustments. They were having some success on the ground but just refused to stay with it. Should have leaned more heavily on the RB as Stidham was not having a very good game even though it looked like he had plenty of time to throw. Many times they rolled him into pressure where if he would have stayed in the pocket he would have been fine. It just didn't look like he played very well. Credit to Grahams defense as they were swarming to the ball and tackled really well. Otherwise, the "dastardly move-in" QB for Graham was their difference on O. He made many plays with his legs and Sville just couldn't seem to contain him. He made some good passes though more often than not, they were to wide-open receivers as a result of broken or poor coverage by Sville's DB's. Few contested passes and zero pass rush from Sville didn't help.
That's my two cents, spend it wisely.
