I love your bell and song selections-ACDC reminds me of old days! Harrison was indeed the best passing QB we've seen this season-cool cookie and highly accurate, you were right bloggers! You pirates take care, safe travel and good luck next season.
I wish we'd had some kind of meet and greet. It would have been cool to meet you good folks.:)

Heartbreak for Sinton
* By Lee Goddard
* Posted December 5, 2009 at 11:23 p.m.
CONVERSE — It was a football game loaded with big plays. Back and forth, Sinton and La Grange traded blows at D. W. Rutledge Stadium for the right to reach the Class 3A Division II state semifinals.
In the end — the very end, as it was overtime — La Grange had one more big play left Saturday night.
Brandon Wilkerson, the Leopards’ receiver who doubles as a defensive back, picked off Josh Harrison on Sinton’s first play in overtime. As La Grange already had scored on their extra-time possession, Wilkerson’s interception sealed a 34-27 overtime victory for the Leopards.
With the region final victory, La Grange (12-2) will meet Carthage (14-0) next week in the state semis. In a season loaded with comebacks, Sinton (12-2) fell just shy of extending its season.
Included in the heroics was a 421-passing effort from Pirates quarterback Harrison. Receiver Jeremy Laws added 207 receiving yards on eight catches. And the two combined to produce a dazzling 99-yard drive that took only five plays and little more than two minutes to tie the game with 1:09 left in regulation.
“That’s what we are. We are a no-quit, get-after-your-tail type of team,” Sinton coach Tom Allen said. “I wonder how many people thought we would take it down the field (99 yards). Our kids thought we were. Our coaches thought we were. Our fans thought we were.
“What it comes down to is who makes the most of the big plays. They made one more than we did. (The Leopards are) a great team. Someone was going to get their feelings hurt. It just happened to be us.”
Someone was bound to be let down, with Harrison and La Grange counterpart Josh Schneider, who passed for 310 yards, trading big drives.
The Pirates scored twice in the final seven minutes of regulation to force overtime. Harrison, who completed 26-of-45 attempts, tore through the Leopards defense in leading his team back from a 14-point fourth quarter deficit.
The Sinton defense held La Grange after Ramsey Rivera hauled in a 3-yard touchdown pass with 6:53 remaining. A punt pinned the Pirates at their own 1.
Then came the drive, with Harrison hooking up with Laws for a 73-yard pass play to the Leopards 1. Keith Garcia scored on the next play to tie the game.
That set up overtime. La Grange’s D’Vonte Daniels needed only two carries to go the 25 yards needed for the score.
Trailing by seven, Harrison scrambled, but Wilkerson read the play for the game-ending interception.
“I remembered he did that earlier in the game,” Wilkerson said. “I went to the middle. The ball was there.
“It was an incredible game. That was a great team. This whole thing was unbelievable.”
The key, for Allen, was that his players believed they could make it that far and even farther.
“I think we exceeded everybody’s expectations,” Allen said. “I think these young men showed a lot of character. That was a character drive. A character stop on defense.
“I tell our kids all the time that nobody deserves anything. They have to earn it. Our kids earned this opportunity.”

What a great game by 2 outstanding teams! hats off to La Grange on your victory.
I felt confident that we would win in OT as we had all year. :( that 99 yard drive was awesome! i'm sure the La Grange faithful were a little taken back and wondering just what they had to do to make us go away! lol
Ahhh this was just a great game and I wish for our boys that it had a different outcome, but those are the breaks. it is incredible that with 3 turnovers we were still in the game. I will echo Coach Allen's thoughts...that's just our boys. they never believe they are out of the game and just keep fighting.
Congrats to the Leps, 3A Division II Region IV Champs! bring it home. you will have a tough foe next week and you'll hear a bunch of drivel of how you don't belong on the same field. well, i'm telling you, you do so go out there and prove it! GO LEPS, BEAT CARTHAGE!
to our wonderful seniors...we will miss you, but know that the future holds great promise for you all. hold your heads high, you have made all your fans very proud. :inlove: to those returning...remember this feeling and make it your driving force.
p.s. there will be a new cake, but not until Monday. tomorrow is a day of rest. ;)

Just got home from the game. What a great game it was. There isn't a bit of daylight between these two evenly matched teams. Ironically it came down to the kicking game. The kicking game has not been a strong suit for the Leps in the playoffs except for tonight. Henderson made all four PATS and went 2 for 2 on feild goals while Sinton missed an extra point on its first score and latter missed a 27 yard fg. Sinton was very tough and answered the Leps each time they managed to get a lead. Harrison impressed me with his poise and the Pirate receivers managed to get in the open all night casting some doubts on the Lep secondary coverage.
Hats off to the Pirates, fans and coaches all a class act. This was a memorable game and the Leps were fortunate to advance. Now it is time to prepare for Carthage. Go Leps Beat the Bulldogs!!! i was thinking the same thing about the kickers during the game and how La Grange kicker came through on fgs and extra points under some heavy rushes that would come close to being block and still come through. Sinton kicker is a jurnior and has been the kicker since his freshman year and i think he had only one missed fg in 3 yrs and 5 miss extra points in like 80 attempts so it was rare for him to miss but he' rebounded after that. Sinton has played several games like this, this year and even though they didnt come through i enjoyed watching this game come down to the last play. Good luck next week La Grange and represent Region 4 with a state title.

Playing the "what if" game here...what if Carson had been healthy for tonight's game? How do you think the outcome could have been affected by his presence?

At this level turnovers are very costly. Good game by both teams. Funny how both teams run the same offense and both had a hard time defending it.

What a great game! I'm so glad that lhpd, Lhp and I made it. s66, SF - great to see you again! p4s -  thanks for saving us seats and for letting us sit with you.
The teams were VERY evenly matched. Sinton was given very little credit, outside the Pirate Nation, for the caliber of their team. I'm sure there's a different thought today from those critics. :)
Leopards - congrats on the win! Pirates - congrats on your season and hold your heads high!

Sorry Lep fans that I didnt make it over to the bus for some stew. Looks like you had it going on.
On another note.... The growl yall play durring game when your team makes a play needs some help. Hard for us to hear and it kinda sounded like toilet flushing.... I think it is great idea dont take this wrong way please... Just too much base and hard to hear. Love the cans full of marbles in the bleachers or whatever that was... Great game by two great teams!
Good luck and beat Carthage!

I don't know if it would have changed the outcome or not but I do know we are a better team with him on the field. Our defense really stepped up the last two weeks and played really really good! I just hated that Carson was not able to play in our last game the last two years.
PS I thought our music and cheerleaders really got the crowd into it in the second half! Love the bells during big plays! Should do that more often! :D

Congrats to the Leopards on a hard fought victory and best of luck the rest of the way.
To my Pirates, we are ALL proud of you. Four rounds in each of the last two years is nothing to hang your heads about. There are hundreds of schools that would have loved to make it this far. You guys never gave up even when all the "experts" were picking against you. To the seniors on this team, thank you for all your efforts and I wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors. To the underclassmen: WELL DONE!!! Relish the success and come back stronger next year!

Sinton was the best team the Leps have faced in the playoffs. They were indomitable and we were fortunate to get the win. The Leps have their work cut out for them next week with a steamrolling Carthage Bulldog crew on a 26 game winning streak. Hope yall will pull for us 'cause we need the help. Go Leps Beat Carthage!:)

I don't play the "what if" game, so I'll just say again...great game Leps!
I loved our crowd spirit last night, but I would still like for us to be more unified. We need to start holding crowd cheer practice. haha ;)
Playing the bells in between plays was AWESOME!

Who gives a Rat's A _ _ about the music sounds, it was the first time we have ever played any. As far as I am concerned they should not play it during the game, no music just football. Playing music during the game is like being at a Pro basketball game and that sucks. Not picking on anyone just giving my 2 cents on it.

I know that at least two of our starters were out which hurt and they were Ryan and Carson but this is not a reflection on their replacemens who did a good job. Plus I am sure that La Grange had some starters out with injuries also.

Hook, my comment was about the growl sounds made by the mechanical device in the end zone on the La Grange side.
The players like the music on the field when they warm up. I don't much care for it during the game. The speaker system at the Sinton stadium is not very loud ( or they have the volume turned down) and I can never hear what he is saying over the noise about half the time.

Neither Brad or Colt McCoy was NOT at this game. (I am responding to every thread with a Brad McCoy reference. Yes my life is that boring and pathetic.)
