We have political discussions/religious discussions/UTandATM discussions on the RGV board without any problems. We are just trying to figure out how to centralize the political discussions. But every board is different. RGV board is a little bit more thick skinned than the downlow.

I'm all for talking facts and exchange thoughts, but plenty of times I've been rebuffed with ad hominem attacks on my perspective and called anything from chairman Mao to Stalin lol The civility has nothing to do with it. It's been in the rules for a long time, it's only been partially enforced. we're in a phase now where they want to enforce it so be it.
