I remember when smart phones just came out and I was at the Brownwood/Carthage game in Dallas. I once looked down below me and there was about 10 guys on their phones looking at 3adownlow. At the time I didn't think this site was going anywhere.

We all were at that game sitting on Bwood site posting and scoreboard watchng..Henderson vs CH was that night as well

I remember, right before Thanksgiving break in 2007, being in a New Media in Journalism class at the University of Arkansas. It was a huge course, well over 100 people in a large auditorium style class. My brother was a senior at Celina that year, and the Bobcats were getting ready to play Pittsburg in the third round of the playoffs. I was on my MacBook hammering away on the 3ADL in the middle of class, and I happened to look down like three rows from me and to my right, and I saw a guy scanning the DownLow. I was baffled. I couldn't believe it. We had never met, but after the class was over that day, I went and talked to him. He said he never posted on 3ADL, but he said he read it all the time. He graduated from and played at Snyder, he said. A few weeks later, during Christmas break, he and I did a little text message trash talking leading up to the semifinal clash between Celina and Snyder. He was certain the Bobcats had never seen someone like Will Clay, and that the Tigers were going to blow the Bobcats out of the water. I assured him Clay wouldn't make the top 10 athletes Celina had ever faced, not even close. He asked me if I would still acknowledge him and talk to him if Celina lost. I said I would. I asked him the same question, and he answered similarly. But after that bitterly cold afternoon at Shotwell, I never heard from him again, and never saw him around campus at the UofA. Hope he's doing alright now.

I didn’t join until AFTER WO-S had their hazing when dropping down to 3A in 2004. Was fun not being the new kid on the block when Brownwood joined the ranks lol. I miss the traveling flag.

I didn’t join until AFTER WO-S had their hazing when dropping down to 3A in 2004. Was fun not being the new kid on the block when Brownwood joined the ranks lol. I miss the traveling flag.

I still have the shirt they gave me when I took a step back from broadcasting and went into coaching...always hangs in the studio.

I cut my teeth on the ol' Pigskin Prep back in the day. And then I was a 'cub reporter' my freshman/sophomore of high school for TexasPrepsXtra, which basically meant I texted Celina's scores in to ProducerBilly, who, I'm sure Matt remembers well.


In fact, I still have the same cell phone number I've always had, and all my contacts are still there. And when I scroll through the P's, I always see 'ProducerBilly' listed. Sometimes I want to text him a score for old time's sake.
