I am a nearly 50 year old man that should have his man card taken away.

Funny story ...

Smoke detector ... low battery chirp started at about 2:30am.

Some back story first ...

About a year and a half ago I bought a new house because I had to abandon my previous residence with all my worldly belongings due to a crazy wife infestation.

I go to Home Depot to get the essentials every man should own. I go to the ladder isle. After all, you can't really be considered a man if you do not own a ladder. Right?

Anyhow, my infinite wisdom told me that a 3 1/2 foot step ladder would be sufficient for all the minor maintenance tasks I would need to do around the house.

And ... I have happily used that step ladder for the last year and a half to reach every single light bulb in my house. I have been pretty happy with my decision.

Until this morning ...

Again ... One of my smoke detectors low battery chirps start at 2:30AM.

I grab my handy step ladder and a 9 volt battery then go in search of the rascally chirper.

Locate it ... set up the step ladder ... climb up ... reach ... reach ... stretch ... Dang it ... must be a 13 foot ceiling.

So, here I sit on the texasdownlow.com trolling ... because I can't sleep with a chirper and Home Depot does not open until 6AM.
