I saw somewhere that they play midnight football or baseball over there when it does this.

I have a card from a baseball game we went to that was played at midnight, with no lighting other than the sun.

Ever see Dave Attell's "Insomniac" on TV? He went to Anchorage, Alaska for a Summer Solstice Celebration = no sundown...when the bars closed up, drunks were stumbling around but it looked like 4 in the afternoon.

What do you do in Alaska after that - you go salmon fishing. The river was full of people fishing at 4 am and the sun wasn't showing signs of setting.

    Weird.

Alaska is known as the land of the midnight sun. During the summer I think there are only about 4 hours of night while in the winter it is the opposite. That is because it is so close to the north pole.

Go Sinton Pirates and Lady Pirates! I also like old movies like "Dawn at Socorro." I also like the Tour de France. I like the Pelican West Band located at South Padre Island, Texas. Phil is PhiI is Bill is the compassion police. He is also the Sinton Matador. Some call him the Sinton Prophet. {Also Captain Obvious. } BEWARE OF THE HOWLING BEAR! He's going for the Corner - he's got it! Roy Orbison rules.

My parents lived in Alaska for 2 years, they were house parents in a children's home. In all that time, they NEVER got used to it being either light all the time, or dark all the time.

I had to laugh at that first comment.

"I hate it when the temperature gets above 70!"

When my parents were there, they had a heck of a time keeping the kids out of shorts. If it had been up to them, they would have worn shorts year around.

My mom came to visit in Texas during the winter one time and said it was way colder here than it was there because they just had cold temperatures, virtually NO WIND!!!!
