When I was in elementary school we got to use the good rubber cement too.

Now that I read the article, all I can say is HOW STUPID!!!
I used to love the way "Marks-a-lot" smelled....never thought about getting high off it, I just thought it smelled good!!
But what in the heck are they letting 3rd graders use markers for, if they pose a "serious safety issue!!"
Stupid dipwads!!

Benny, I just rechecked the title of this thread and I don't think markers are the answer.

I don't think they should let young kids use markers or glue period. It starts there and next thing you know they are all hopped up on dope and listening to that loud rock music.

sorry, i probably shouldn't make light of the serious issue that is "marks-a-lot" sniffing!
I agree, I shouldn't have either. It is a huge problem. I didn't know until I wen't to Lowe's to buy some duct tape (to reattach one of my wife's heels of her church shoes) that you have to be 18 to buy duct tape. Kids have figured out how to roll it out and do something to it that gets the glue off of the tape and then they sniff or snort or huff or whatever, the glue. It's crazy.Originally posted by pirate4state
