    Question 7 on 7

I just went to my first 7 on 7 tournament in San Angelo. It was a lot of fun to watch. My hometown team (Ballinger) qualified for state and lost in the championship game to Abilene Cooper. Is this good or bad? I have seen teams do great at 7 on 7 and then crumple when you put on the pads. Do you think that 7 on 7 in any way indicates how well a team might do in the fall. I am of the opinion that it doesn't really translate into anything concrete other than keeping the kids in shape and maybe giving them a morale boost for the season. Alot of really successful teams don't even participate in 7 on 7. What are your thoughts?

For the most part, I agree. The only thing it means is that you have a good 7 on 7 team. But, it is a good of evaluating the talent of your skill position players. As long as you keep in mind that it's a different game once the pads go on.
