    Default Marble Falls

I drove through that town Saturday and the town is just gorgeous.....heading south on 281 and passing over the river there was really beautiful and some of the views south of the river are just sick.....easily the prettiest place Ive ever seen of Texas...I'm kicking myself for not bringing a camera

So you found the home of the Lake Rats! (That's what we always called them back in high school.)

It is a pretty scenic place though as is most of the hill country in that area. It's so much nicer looking than up here in North Texas.

Good to hear that they won. I just hope that beating Burnet can translate into actually beating them when the games count. The football program has just not been that good since Rod Hess left after the 94 season. They've got another new coach though so maybe he'll be the one to turn things around.

Badger Stadium...lol...Now that's a relic. It's a nice setting where it's at, but it's so dang old. I remember we won a home and home flip with LBJ in 94 for a playoff game and had to move it to Temple because we would have had to have LBJ fans sit on the home side due to lack of seating. That thing has been there since before my mom was in school back in the 60's. They should be getting a new stadium south of town on 281 though since they just passed a bond for a new high school. I hope they'll move the monument for Rod Hudson (Head coach who died in the late 80's from a heart attack I believe it was.) that's by the flagpole. I think it's important that folks remember how much good he did for Lampasas football back when I was a kid in the 80's.

I know Lampasas doesn't have a new one built yet. My mom works at the high school and she had called me recently about their bond election to get the new school.

haha...We never did call them that, but it's probably a more apt nickname. Our basketball coach at the time, Dan Antilley, (One of Billy Clyde's old assistants from Ellison and long-time friend from growing up together in Graford.) always referred to them as Lake Rats. He had names for just about every team we played. I still call folks from Waco Midway Milk Drinkers because of him!...lol.

I don't remember if he ever had a nickname for Burnet though. I sure do know that y'alls old football coach Edwin Abernathy had some choice words anytime someone mentioned the name Lampasas to him.

In Burnet they have always been called River Rats. I have to say, over the years they have cleaned up quite nicely.

they will be forever the River Rats

I played in the old JH and the old High School
they were as bad as Leander and San Saba
loser of those 2 games finished last

they were ranked number 1 in the state and stayed home
    Manor beat them week 10

Burnet also beat them 2x on way to the state final in 91
one was a tie I think

not much has come outta MF
had a good miler-2 miler a coupla of years ago

girls b ball has been good lately
but they will manage to screw that up

    still all in all

    pretty place

    but will always suck

    they are the Rats
they will always be the Rats

    besides Purple is ugly

    just like ACC

    a lot of alike

fire away I know some of you will
