we need to break them down into generations and/or genres.
Johnny Depp & Leo DiCaprio are seriously some of the best actors of their generation.
Paul Newman & Robert Redford in their hey-day
William H. Macy is a great "character" actor

Johnny is good but I wouldn't say "greatest."
Denzel tops my list. watch John Q then Training Day right after (or vice versa) and you'll see why.
Clive Owen is next. King Arthur and Inside Man (Also starring Denzel) are both awesome
3rd is no doubt Samuel L. Jackson. nuff said!
