Default UT's Adrian Alaniz (former Sinton Pirate) Drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals!

Good news indeed. This is on the second day of the MLB draft. Man he may get to play for the Cardinals who are a World Series Contender. He may get to be able to say he played on State Championship team, NCAA Division 1 National Championship team, and a World Series Winning Team. And he was almost on a State Championship team in football. Way to go Adrian!

Go Sinton Pirates and Lady Pirates! I also like old movies like "Dawn at Socorro." I also like the Tour de France. I like the Pelican West Band located at South Padre Island, Texas. Phil is PhiI is Bill is the compassion police. He is also the Sinton Matador. Some call him the Sinton Prophet. {Also Captain Obvious. } BEWARE OF THE HOWLING BEAR! He's going for the Corner - he's got it! Roy Orbison rules.

If he is to some day win a World Series with the Cardinals (or any team for that matter)...I wonder how many guys could say that they won a title at all 3 levels? Something to think about indeed Phil!

It is indeed exciting, but I think he'll come back to UT for another year.

    congrats to Adrian.

    here is a neat scenario:
if he plays for them, he will no doubt spend some of his time in the AA affiliate Springfield Cardinals. they are a member of the Texas League along with the Corpus Christi Hooks. i wonder how many Sinton-ites and fans from the surrounding area will come out to watch him pitch against the Hooks at Whataburger Field. That would be interesting

    Cool

He was like the 1,100th pick in the draft, I bet he stays at UT. Lots of college players that were not highly drafted are staying put. UT is going to be really good, only losing 3 or 4 players total.

I think he will stay unless they offer him at least 2nd round money! Doesnt he have 2 years of eligibilty left?

    from the Statesman:

Pitchers Adrian Alaniz (a third-year sophomore) and Randy Boone (a junior) were picked in the 36th and 38th rounds, respectively, and will likely return for another season to try to improve their draft stock. First baseman Chance Wheeless, shortstop Chais Fuller and third baseman Nick Peoples went undrafted.

That means the Horns could return their entire starting infield from 2006, a group that should be bolstered with the addition of undrafted high school recruits Josh Prince and Michael Demperio.

Good, maybe he can hit in the leadoff spot next year, in place of Stubbs, who cant ever seem to hit when it counts, or when he is on TV.
