Up on the Northwest corner, there's a place on 1960 around the Jones Road crossing that serves a very good steak. Don't remember the name of it off hand, but it is definitely good. Last time I ate there, it was still cooked over mesquite. My favorite steak in the area is further out northwest past Brenham and on into Somerville at the Country Inn. It's been a long time since I've had any better. For BBQ (they do steaks too) it's Carl's on Hwy 290 out a couple exits past 1960.

Thanks, do you any that are closer to Deer Park?
There's also a place in Copperfield on Hwy. 6 (south of 290/1960 intersection) called "Sweet Mesquite" that does a fair job. (Headed south, 1960 becomes Hwy.6 at the 290 intersection.)

Great!!!
I told my "little bro" I'd call him with your recomendations.
I didn't hang out too much on the southeast side, however, there's bound to be your normal course of Texas Roadhouses in that area somewhere. There's one of those on the 290/1960 intersection also. I believe there is also a Sweet Mesquite in Clear Lake close to the UofH campus.Originally posted by SintonFan

I stay on 1960 and veterans memorial thats about 3 miles east of 249, right behind Wolfies in the Best Western. I wish I could help yall out where to eat steak. Wolfies is a pretty good bar and grill, everywhere I eat steak it seems to be like marinated leather so I just do it myself at the casa.
I would love to try the Cattle Guard on Hwy 6 and I-10 because I think they serve wild game but I heard it was pretty expensive.
Try that place at 1960 and jones Road. I wish I could remember the name. It really is pretty good. One of the few mesquite Grills up there. If you're headed south towards Copperfield, it's on the left just before Jones Road. It's in an old Red Lobster type building.
