Unhappy I took the SAT today

I'm not going to lie.....i'm a smart person....i take AP classes and have a 96 GPA.....

But that...was probably the hardest test i have ever taken in my life. The reading was easy....the essay was easy.....and for the most part the math was easy. The first bit of math questions were laughable...but then....i came across one problem....it said "find the value for X" and the question was:

    (a squared + b squared) + (a cubed + b cubed) = X + a

    a. 45 ( all the answer choices were numbers...you get the point)
    b.
    c
    d
    e

now...will someone mind telling me how to get a value for X....WHEN THERE ARE NO NUMBERS!!!!

i was at that thing for 4 hours......and it seemed like a life time.

a word of advise for all the underclassmen.....TAKE THE ACT.

Seems like the answer should be a+b or something like that. I don't see how you could get a number though

I'm pretty sure that with the new writing portion, there is now a top score of 2400. Our school had the entire jr. class take the PSAT and I made like a 1720 which equated to something like a 1175? I got the ACT next satruday and am hoping I can make a 30, I made a 27 last year so maybe I can squeeze out a few more points.

i can't imagine how to solve that unless there is some obscure rule I don't know of.

the cubes can be factored by the squares can't so I really don't know where to go with it, I guess I would of have tried to work it backwards.
