The FAR-REACHING impact of an out-of-control media. Someone needs to be made an example of here. This is just way too irresponsible.

The deaths of those people is on that paper's hands.

Wonder what their next issue will be like?
What happened to the good ole '3 sources rule' that most journalism students learn about?
Ya have one guy saying it happened and BOOM, it's the truth...
I'd be happy with 1 reliable source. I've heard about (not in the national media of course) numerous people being fired for making up stories. But if it fits their agenda, who cares if they have to fabricate people, places, and events.Originally posted by Gobbla2001

Right or Wrong News doesn't always just happen - you have to make it.
Go Sinton Pirates and Lady Pirates! I also like old movies like "Dawn at Socorro." I also like the Tour de France. I like the Pelican West Band located at South Padre Island, Texas. Phil is PhiI is Bill is the compassion police. He is also the Sinton Matador. Some call him the Sinton Prophet. {Also Captain Obvious. } BEWARE OF THE HOWLING BEAR! He's going for the Corner - he's got it! Roy Orbison rules.
Phil C Cares!
If tha National Enquirer can come out with all it's stupid stuff and stay on the newsstand we are already in trouble. The riots are the direct result of flaky sensationalism by goofy
English and Journalism majors from liberal colleges trying to one-up each other. They think they are obligated to sway public opinion instead of just factually reporting the news events. Thank Goodness there are a few reliable alternatives out there!
Watergate. It's a shame, ain't it?Originally posted by Gobbla2001

It's a shame how much influence the media has over your average person's view of everything. And noone is there to hold them accountable. That's why I've retired from the business. I'll never work in it again unless it's my rules.
If they get a story wrong and cause so much suffering as this Newsweek story, it's up to responsible editors (of which there aren't many) to do everything they can to make it right. Too bad most of those responsible editors of yesteryear have died and given way to yellow journalism and paparazzi.
