Like in any other poll, there will always be teams on these things that have no business on them, because they are a matter of opinion or regional equity. The games must still be played on the field. The only poll that really matters is the one that seeds state qualifiers.

and there are also teams in the bottom 10 that should be ranked in the top 10 - polls don't matter though - in the playoffs, you have to prove it on the field

This is a poll by the Texas High School Girls Softball Coaches Association.
I think that polls are just opinions but are just one method of trying to determine how teams are doing across the state.
It's not something of paramount importance, but it is interesting as to how some teams have won enough games against , say 4As and 5As that someone sees their efforts as commendable. It looks to me that Region I, II, IV each have several superior teams this year and Region III mainly because of the huge select team trained programs have a half dozen to a dozen that will just have to eliminate themselves down to one. The greater Houston area select team training format is phenomenal. Recently one the 5A HS teams won the top National tournment. held out west.

Will the 10 top teams fare better that the next ten? Probably not, all it takes is a team to have a bad day at the plate--not placing the ball in the open space and not grouping all their hits in one or two innings and they are beat! It take a lot of luck and good fortune to move up the ladder.

Greenwood has a bye, so hopefully our pitcher will be able to get her geometry grade pulled up and will be able to play!
