California coming to Texas -- again
April 12, 2005 -- A second California high school has agreed to travel to Texas for a regular-season high school football game during the upcoming 2005 season.
On August 26, Gainesville will host Scotts Valley High School, which is located in Northern California (north of Santa Cruz). Last August, Gainesville opened its season with a 60-0 victory over San Antonio College Prep Academy - but the schools signed only a one-year contract, which created the opening for the 3A Leopards this fall.
"I posted the opening on a web site and that's how they got the information," Gainesville coach Jeff Cordell told Texasfootball.com earlier today. "It's a chance to see California football and our kids and our community are real excited."
