Default Peter Jennings and lung cancer

It seems like millions of people in his age group he is a former smoker.

Your heart and circulation can get better after you quit. I can testify to that. If you did not do too much damage, emphysema will not result or be progressive if it is still mild.

    But.....

those years of inhaling all those carcenogens never goes away. All it takes is some of the other factors (genetics, stress, etc.) to combine, and you can have lung cancer even after you quit.

And in the past 40 years, the cure rate has not gotten better. That is the only cancer which medicine has not become better with. The cure rate is something like 16-17%.

So Peter Jennings shares with Ed Murrow and some other great journalists a shared problem.

    my prayers are with him
