A recent extra large regional academic contest in science and math had over 1200 participants. Two big Bridge City football players both linemen--Junior Andrew Havens and Senior Doug Carlson placed second and third in the large field of scholars. Doug is slated to play for Rice University but could have gone to any high-academic college across the USA. I have not heard where Havens plans to play after next season.
