    Default Texas City Plant Explosion

I think everyone has heard about the BP Plant in Texas City exploding. Well I only live a mile down the road from the plant and when the explosion occured it shattered my windows in my house. I was standing outside when it happen and it felt if someone had hit me in my chest with a baseball bat. My roommate was in the plant when the explosion occured, but he made it out safely. This plant was the 3rd largerst in the USA. The part that blew up was the fuel and oil supply. Gas prices will definetly be on the rise now.

Here is some more on it at Fox News

I just read an article that said the plant is running fine other than the part that blew up. The Plant Manager also said that this would not affect US gas supplies so hopefully the gas companies will not raise prices on a knne jerk reaction.

Glad you're o.k. and that the explosion did not affect the rest of the plant.

I just barely remember the humongous reaction everyone had when the great Texas City explosions happened. Was that 1949 or 50 or 51? Because it was a one-two punch and caught some many of the local fire trucks on the scene, it change our disaster response procedures for all time. Thank goodness this was no repeat.
