Default Low scoring girls basketball games

I've noticed that a lot of girls baskeball games scores have been low scoring (District and non-district. Like 40-35, 42-41 and some 36-28-Is this now common or coaches emphasizing slowing the pace and working on defense- You don't see many g ames in the 50s or 60s or higher...

I'm sure lots of turnovers and missed free throws have something to do with it

The lack of shot clock leads to a lot of stall offense.

Most girls teams cannot run an offensive set for 30 seconds without a turnover. I have been officiating basketball for 45 years and the quality of play (except for the elite programs) continues to slide.

I covered a girls game back in the late 1980s when I was writing for the Wharton Newspaper and the final score ended up at 8-2
