You really think the 4A/3A cutoff number will go up that high?

I would think not. I would probably say somewhere in the 530s. The lower end of the 530s would really balance 3A DI and 4A DII nicely, but it may end up in the mid 530s range if they want keep a similar balance as last realignment.

I guess the bigger question is, how many schools would be in 3A D1 and below in each class. Because if there ends up being enough teams per classification, then 560 may end up being the magic number for 4A/3A cutoff.

That would mean a bunch more current 4A teams and teams we thought were going 4A will remain 3A.

I used approximately the number of schools the UIL used last realignment in each classification. 6A - 251, 5A - 253, 4A - 194. Thats how many schools are above the 570 number.

Well, using that 570 number, I can right off the bat predict 16-4A DII will be Port Isabel, Rio Grande City Grulla, Sinton, Ingleside, Robstown, West Oso. Raymondville drops to 3A. Bishop & Orange Grove remain 3A

While this would really suck for the only 2 RGV area 4A D2 teams travel wise, if both are able to get an even split of home/away against the Corpus area schools, then that's just 2 long road trips + a medium sized one between PI and La Grulla. It's about a 90ish minute drive from PI to Rio Grande City. That's actually not too bad, IMO, and leaves D16 DII a solid 6-team district.

Now as for current D15 D2, wouldn't half of the current members would drop to 3A with a 570 cutoff? What happens with what's left? It might actually be fun putting together a mock alignment for 4A DII using 570-900 as the cutoffs.

Don't think that the UIL is going that high on the bottom of 4A. Probably 540-1280. The UIL has rules in place to have @ least 200 in the lower classes. 5 schools from Austin and one from San Antonio will probably opt up. Setting the limits too high on the bottom would bloat 3A (which has way too many charter schools anyway). Really don't think that they will split the Wichita Falls schools on their last go round before the new schools open in WF either.
