Thread: Texas A&M

  1. #1

    Default Texas A&M

The Aggies lost a few good players to the draft but they have kellen mond, jashaun Corbin, quartney Davis, and a solid offensive line coming back.

The Aggies will have some work to do defensively to replace all but 2 of the starting defensive line and linebackers. The corners weren’t nearly as good as the safeties last year, but they do bring pretty much all of the secondary minus Wilson back. Renfro and O’Neal should anchor the secondary.

Special teams will be a strength again with Mann coming back.

With a lot to replace, the Aggies will rely heavily on a couple key elite freshman recruits in OL Kenyon Green, DL DeMarvin Leal, TE Baylor Cupp and DB Erick Young

I have high hopes, but A&M has a brutal schedule with 3 road trips to face top 7 teams and then bama at home. If they win the other games, they would be 8-4. Anything less would be a disaster. 9-3 and a bowl win would be a great season. Anything better than that is unlikely but would be awesome.

    What say you?

Coming from a diehard Longhorn fan, it would be awesome to see the Aggies become an elite top 2 or 3 SEC team because that's about the only way the Aggies and Longhorns are ever gonna meet up again!

The Aggies don't even seem like they're a Texas team anymore. That was their choice though, and I think it worked out financially, which is what bigtime college football is all about. Everyone gets paid but the players. Our former coach has made well over a million since he left five years ago.

They seem like they are in Texas to me. It's all a matter of perspective.

I don’t think either school has much interest, but both fan bases want it to happen. Hopefully it happens in a College football playoff game

I think the Aggies are one of the most interesting teams in college football this year. I think they have a really good roster and is improving each year. If Mond takes a proportional step forward again this year, they could have a great year. I think if they can find a way to win 2 of the 4 between Bama, Clemson, LSU & Georgia, it will be a great season.

Love love love that Traylor is on the Arkansas staff with Chad Morris. If Morris can keep Traylor around, Arkansas will turn into an offensive juggernaut here in a year or two. Between the two of them, they've done with Bielema never could figure out how to do: Recruit Texas. Specifically, by Morris's design, they're recruiting east Texas heavily. That's where having Traylor on board is such a priceless commodity. Maybe Surratt is the only more highly respected coach out there, and I don't think even he would have the recruiting bravado that Traylor carries.

He wanted to be a head coach by now. Five years of not wearing the headset is frustrating for him.

So, no, he probably won't be sticking around if he doesn't have to. Fayetteville may be Hog Heaven, but it's not that for Texans.

There are more Texans in Fayetteville and U of A than there are folks from other states, including Arkansas, I can tell you that. Lots of Texans on the roster, too, and probably always will be. Traylor will certainly get his shot at a head job, but he hasn't done anything at the college ranks YET to warrant that, honestly. There's no question he's a genius, and I really do think if he gets a year or two with Morris, the rest of the college football world is going to get to see him showcase that genius, and he will indeed get a head coaching offer.

I rest A&M's offensive ability squarely on Mond's arm and throwing accuracy. If he can hit the deep guys, our Offense will be great.

The D will have some learning to do, but there is really good talent. Getting it to gel, and eliminate pass coverage mistakes will be the biggest hurdle IMHO.

Can't wait for the season to begin.

A&M just picked up a verbal commitment from north shore 4* WR Shadrach Banks....

You may remember him ripping the duncanville defense apart in the 6A D1 state championship game as a sophomore last season... he did something similar to Katy a couple weeks earlier

Last years two give-me tickets: Clemson and LSU on the 50 yd line. If I could only get that lucky this year.
