Bulldogs record comeback victory

The Sweeny Bulldogs came from behind Tuesday afternoon to beat Sealy, 6-3, at Bulldog field.

After Sweeny took a 1-0 lead in the first frame, the Tigers scored three in the top of the third. But the Bulldogs fought back in the latter half of that inning and tied it up, 3-3, then added three in the fourth for the final margin.

Sweeny outhit the Tigers, 9-8. Blake Benavides and Joe Effenberger led with two hits each, and Wes Folse and Braden Norris each drove in a run.

Caden Homniok went five innings with five strikeouts for the victory.

Sweeny, 11-5, will host Episcopal at noon Thursday at Bulldog Field. Sealy plays at Wharton in a District 25-4A game on Friday afternoon
