From The Brazosport Facts

Sweeny, Columbia and Danbury won’t have to travel far for tournament action this weekend. All three will participate in the Battle of the Best tournament in Sweeny as the high school softball season hits its second weekend.

Also beginning today, Angleton will travel to the Clear Creek ISD tournament, Brazoswood will play at The Woodlands Invitational while Brazosport will participate in the Humble ISD Tournament at Summer Creek.

At the Battle of the Best tournament, each team will play a pair of contests today. Columbia (3-4) will open the event against Sealy at 8 a.m. The Lady ‘Necks will play again at 11:20 a.m. against Katy Paetow.

Danbury (5-2) will play its first tournament game at 1 p.m. against Beeville and then face Little Cypress-Mauriceville at 4:20 p.m.. Sweeny (4-0) will close the tournament’s first day with games at 6 p.m. against East Bernard and 7:40 p.m. against Terry.

Sweeny will take on Beeville at 2:40 p.m. Friday and Columbia will face Weimar at 4:20 p.m. Danbury will play Galveston Ball at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Brazoswood will get in five games in three days at The Woodlands Invitational beginning with a 3 p.m, contest today against Fort Bend Ridge Point.

On Friday, the Lady Bucs will face Liberty at 3:15 p.m. and Bellair at 5 p.m. They will finish the tournament Saturday with games against The Woodlands at 4 p.m and Cy Ranch at 5:45 p.m.

At the CCISD tournament, Angelton will face Dickinson at noon today to open tournament play. The Ladycats will also face Clear Creek at 4 p.m. Both games will be played at Clear Creek High School.

On Friday, the Ladycats will face Episcopal at noon and Clear Falls at 2 p.m. The games will be at Clear Falls. Saturday at Clear Springs, the Ladycats will play Nederland at 10 a.m. and Clear Springs at noon.

The Lady Ships have three games scheduled today to open play at the Humble ISD tournament beginning at 9:50 a.m against Houston Nimitz. Brazosport will also face Cinco Ranch at 1:50 p.m. and Houston Westfield at 4:30 p.m.
