I finished my 8 weeks of bilateral radiation yesterday..... I drove from Cuero to Kyle 5 days a week for 8 weeks (except Thanksgiving and Christmas) Another step in this journey (double mastectomy Sept 4th) .... I will be having monthly trips to Round Rock for Dr followups and hopefully final reconstruction surgery in May... I missed the majority of the Gobblers wonderful season but I was there for the 1st game, Navarro home game, Thanksgiving playoff game and of course, the big one at Jerry's World. Guys, remind your wife, girlfriends and/or daughters to get yearly mammograms and ask for ultrasound if anything is suspicious... I had a full exam with Mammogram in Aug of 2017 with "you're just fine, see you in a year" 5 months later, January 23rd, 2018 I found a lump and it was 8.5 cm by the time we got the biopsy, tests, etc. there is ZERO cancer on my side of the family... (obviously, that's no longer true) This is a PSA from me to you.... Also, always listen to your body, I was told by 2 surgeons I just had "dense tissue"

Sorry this is 'off topic' but it's off season and I think a very important issue... I never in a million years thought about getting cancer -

Thank you for sharing. I have 2 cousins going through this right now. One of them is in very advanced stage. We are praying.

Prayers for you and your family.

My wife had a mastectomy way back in 2001. Surgeon in San Marcos did the reconstruction on the same day. She had to do chemo and radiation. She has been cancer free since 2007 and only has to see her oncologist annually. Just my message to you that there is hope. Good luck as you continue to trip to being cancer free.

That's awesome Gontex - I had some of the reconstruction done in Sept - but during my surgery, they found cancer in my lymph nodes and removed 16 of them, so I unexpectedly needed radiation after my mastectomy (and quite a bit of it) so they put expanders in - I get "the real ones" lol (I know TMI) in a few months. I feel good with my prognosis - went to Austin Drs and they've been very efficient and communicated with me - one on one - I hope I continue to be blessed .. Glad your wife is doing OK....

Sounds like you are on the right path 44.I was having issues urinating and my doctor checked and my prostrate was enlarged.Sent me to a urologist and he wanted to kind of work up to the prostrate doing other test that had nothing to do with my prostate.I fired him and told my doctor to send me to Houston. To make a long story short I had low grade prostate cancer but it started getting worse over time.I elected to have it removed and be done with it.Had a couple of check ups sense and all is well.Cancer is the devil...Lost my sister and brother to it.

You are a trooper 44. Had you in prayers and so blessed to see you in person at JHC. Continue best wishes to you. I too have lost my brother, sister in law and a close friend Johnnie Bishop (known as bd62 here on the board) to cancer. Kick cancer's butt.
