According to Matt, the last team to win state their first year was Beaumont west brook in 1982. Only 2 teams have ever done it. Guessing the other was Estacado like you mentioned

I think Westbrook was the result of combining 2 Beaumont schools. Also they started the year 0-5, then won 10 straight.

Not quite correct...West Brook started 0-2, then won 3 straight then lost 2 of their next 3 before the run to the title

They got a bunch of players that would have gone to Manvel....I believe only the seniors that are at Shadow Creek spent their freshman year at Manvel

West Brook was the result of a merger... Beaumont Hebert (which had recently won a title in 1976) and Beaumont Forest Park so had a full class of experienced juniors and seniors. Lubbock Estacado was the first and only school so far to win as a brand new school that wasn't a merger. They won 24 consecutive games from 1968-1969 finally losing to Brownwood in the 1969 playoffs. Hamshire-Fannett also went undefeated in their first varsity season in 1961 (12-0) BUT they weren't in a high enough classification to compete for a state title only winning a regional championship AND they were also the result of a merger.

Alvin ISD has plans for a 4th high school. Will be located right off of 288 in Iowa Colony, they hope to have it open by 2022.

I don’t really understand why it’s called Alvin Shadow Creek... it’s really not even close to Alvin.

Don’t think the new HS will affect success of shadow creek either

Probably because one is a school named after it's community and the other is just a school name.

And I can't really call it "Pearland Shadow Creek" because that would really confuse folks

If they win, they may have heck of a time deciding which water tower to paint and where to put the "City of Champions" signs. May not get resolved before the start of 7 on 7.
