Breaking News from The Victoria Advocate:
An 18-year-old Yoakum High School student was arrested Tuesday in connection with vandalism to a locker room at Goliad High School on Nov. 10.
Brennen Jarod Hall, a member of the Yoakum High School football team, was booked into the Goliad County Jail Tuesday afternoon, according to a news release fron Goliad County Sheriff's office Capt. John Pape.
At least one additional arrest involving a juvenile is anticipated and the investigation is not yet complete, according to the news release.
Hall was charged with one count of felony criminal mischief in connection with the vandalism. He was subsequently released on a $3,000 bond set by Justice of the Peace Precinct 2 Steven Kennedy
Hall was arrested in Yoakum by District Attorney Investigator John Schlinger and taken to Goliad for booking. He was arrested on a warrant issued by Kennedy earlier that day, according to the news release.
The Goliad County Sheriff’s Office and the 24th Judicial District Attorney’s Office jointly investigated the case.
An estimated $4,700 in damage was done to the visitor’s locker room at Goliad High School following the Goliad – Yoakum football game on Nov. 9. Damage included the slashing of more than 30 custom-made locker seat cushions, ripped down shower curtains, a drinking fountain ripped away from the wall, and a large amount of mud and debris ground into the carpet. Urine was also found throughout the locker room area, requiring the school district to disinfect the area before it could be used again.
The offense involved is a state jail felony and carries a punishment range of 180 days to 2 years in prison, and a fine of not more than $10,000.
Sorry for the Yoakum team that a handful of bad players have soiled the entire teams' season along with Goliad's field house.
At least I hope there were some innocent players who didn't tear up the place.
The problem with socialism is, eventually you run out of other peoples' money.
Hi bluecat!Pape also refuted a theory that Goliad students had entered or contributed to the vandalism after the locker area was vacated.
They know who did it, got him on video.
It was done and all the players and coaches were on the buses ready to leave when this kid said he left something in the locker room.
This kid has never been a bad kid so apparently the coaches trusted him to go get what he left and get back on the bus. I have two nephews on the Yoakum team and that is what happened. I have no idea why this kid did that because he’s never done anything like that before. He’s no longer on the team and Yoakum ISD will bear the expense of a stupid act by a kid. Just stupid!
Dang Regal, your quite the drama queen!
They all seen the video, they know who did it and he’s been kicked off the team and Yoakum ISD is paying to repair all damages.
Regal, what did they ever do with that Goliad coach who got drunk, drove is car into the side of that house and caught it on fire?
Regal, the supts and the authority’s have the video. They are in charge of the investigation and all parties involved are doing what needs to be done to remedy this situation. Anyone or everyone who caused this damage Will be held accountable. Rumors, inneuendo, and smears do nothing to remedy this situation.
Good luck in the playoffs.
Looks like your story shifted from one to now it may be others to yea it is two. I would not be surprised that more are involved due to the nature of the damages. If a Grand Jury gets involved it will not bode well.
There is no way the coaches did not have a clue.
I'm certain there are a good majority of innocent that were caught in the middle of this fiasco. Just like all the innocent supporters from the community. It's a bad reflection on those that are given responsibility to be a mentor and leader of these players. Obviously, something caused this kind of reaction and somehow those involved didn't give their actions any cause to fear accountability. That part doesn't speak well for those in charge.....does it?
Yesterdays are gone forever and tomorrows may never happen, but today you have the opportunity to make a difference.
It's also a sore spot with the Goliad side that the Yoakum coaching staff has never come forward with an apology......all of the verbage has come from the Yoakum Supt. In fact, not much came forward for several weeks until just before this game this week with Goliad. I find that very interesting also.

Brennan Hall(5-2, 150/Sr.) RB. Why would a bench player that is obviously not a starter become so upset with a 3 point loss to Goliad in the final seconds and do so much damage to their locker room??? Doesn't sound very logical that this kind of player would be so involved, does it? I doubt if he even saw any action in this very close game for the district title. Very interesting indeed......just sayin'. Draw your own conclusions.

The only other possible reason to do criminal mischief was to make a statement or something personal against the Yoakum coaching staff to make them look bad. But that does not excuse the Yoakum coaching staff from being the last to leave the locker room and allowing any of the team access without oversight.

Okay......we are waiting for the truth. You may not know the real truth either, YT.....ever consider that??? Alot of things can become muddled and hidden in the "legal process". It's a shame this whole incident occurred and that things have escalated to this point. Don't blame the messenger.....most of what I have reported has so far been proven to be factual. I've been on this earth for 64 yrs and have a little bit of common sense......give me credit for that at least.

Besides......Yoakum is the school that has not been forthcoming in all of this mess, not the Goliad side. And all wrapped up in a playoff scenario with the football program. Goliad vs Yoakum tonight in Cuero. We beat you guys last time without our starting star QB Rocky Morris......tonight you will get the full flavor of a healthy Goliad Tiger team this season. Perhaps we can end Yoakum's misery of this ongoing nightmare that is haunting your community with a big win.
