Of course now we are all interested to know who the culprit(s) were and what sort of punishment will be enforced. This all should occur today or tomorrow.....before Friday's playoff game with Columbus......and be made public......it's a public issue now.
Yesterdays are gone forever and tomorrows may never happen, but today you have the opportunity to make a difference.

There is no way this will be made public. Privacy laws prevent a school from releasing information about students. None of your business even if you think you are entitled to know. You'll just have to listen to rumors. Students privacy come first for a reason, they are a minor and schools have rules to go by. Just have to trust the Coach and Administration will handle it. Not trying to be ugly, but the world of media we live in wants INSTANT gratification and has created an atmosphere where we have some kind of RIGHT to know. Incorrect.

    cui bono?

Hard to believe players from Yoakum would do this as they would have had to know they would be caught. On the other hand who benefits from this? Let's see how the investigation goes before assigning blame to Yoakum, one of the classiest teams in the region.

Think this from the official statement tells us what happened.

The district has offered to pay for the damage and sincerely apologizes to Goliad ISD, its administrators, employees, students and families. Yoakum ISD wishes Goliad ISD well in its upcoming playoff game.

After reading the news report I think it could be a roving gang of renegade senior citizens.

Not sure about that in this type of scenario. It's a criminal misdemeanor......vandalism......which means Goliad ISD has every right to know the specifics of the guilty party and the punishment doled out. Besides....the player(s) name(s) need to be made public so that any suspensions doled out can be validated during the playoffs. Otherwise......where is our checks and balances system in adherence to UIL rules......especially during the playoffs?

I saw a reporter video and the Sheriff dept is reviewing the security footage. If criminal charges are filed, this is no longer a school or team problem. If there were minors involved, legally their names can't be released. It's not the public's business who is behind this. If any culprits were 17, there may be some mention in local publications, depending on the types of stories covered. But if minors, again, it can only mention the story and not the person(s). Trust the system.

It's such a shame that this happened! Sometimes stupidity takes over.

I may be over stepping my boundaries Regal and I don't have a horse in the race, but why do you care? They did something stupid and hopefully they will be punished......but is it really any of Regals business??

Kid is being punished and YISD stated will cover all expenses for repairs. It's a black eye on Yoakum, and I apologize.

What's the old lesson we were taught as kids? No matter all the good you do, just takes one to ruin it.

As a matter of fact......I do have a horse in this race. Goliad is my hometown and my alma mater......so I follow them and care very much. Is that Ok with everybody now??? Besides......it's very important to the other schools playing in these playoffs that may face Yoakum to know which player(s) were responsible and suspended......duh!!! If you were on the opposing coaching staff......wouldn't you want to know and be at least interested in the outcome also???

I hope the punishment fits the crime. Here is the problem I have with this situation. All the coaches I have worked for are the absolute last ones on the bus after doing a walk through and cleaning up the locker room of any debris. I just don't understand why this was not done.

It was done and all the players and coaches were on the buses ready to leave when this kid said he left something in the locker room.
This kid has never been a bad kid so apparently the coaches trusted him to go get what he left and get back on the bus. I have two nephews on the Yoakum team and that is what happened. I have no idea why this kid did that because he’s never done anything like that before. He’s no longer on the team and Yoakum ISD will bear the expense of a stupid act by a kid. Just stupid!

Columbus may will end Yoakum's season Friday. the cardinals are underrated and this whole debacle is a huge distraction for the Bulldog players and coaches. Sad.

True story Pudlugger......Columbus is a much improved team from early in the season when they were defeated by a large margin by Goliad. They have some huge linemen on both sides of the ball and some quality skill players. Yoakum will have their work cut out for them in this opening round for sure.....just like Goliad will against Hitchcock with all the injuries that Goliad has sustained. Goliad has been playing without their star QB and RB for about 5 weeks now.....Logan Bland(RB/DE/6-1, 230, Sr.) did play at about 80% last week. Don't know if or when QB Rocky Morris(5-11, 175/Sr.) will try to come back and play with that broken right collar bone he sustained 7 weeks ago......maybe this week. MLB Reitz(6-2, 220, Sr) and Dontavion Clay(6-0, 180/WR/DB, Sr.) are back playing again.....they were out 3-4 games also. As was several other starters for Goliad. Goliad has been playing with backups for the entire district play season.....most fairweather fans of Texas High School football don't know that.
