There could actually be a big mess in multiple districts if 4 of the teams finish with 2-2 records. Quality points would probably be used and good teams might be left out of the playoffs. Especially that there are multiple 4 team districts in 4A with potentially subpar teams making the playoffs. The UIL needs to have a larger number of schools in 4A if there are going to have split divisions. Just got to thinking about this because 1 win might not make the playoffs from these 5 team districts.

The motto of Texas is for all intents and purposes "Go big or go home." That is true in high school enrollments. Lots of big schools, lots of small schools, and not a lot in between (4A). That is why 4A is so small. Making 4A bigger would mean putting Denison (small 5A) and Bonham (big 3A) in the same district by expanding the enrollment range. Creating a Class 7A and bumping up the biggest of the biggest would help down the line.

Not necessarily because 15-20 schools with extensions both ends of enrollment would not really affect things too much. The problem is the split divisions in football. A range of 490-1200 might work. Maybe not? Couldn't hurt to try though.

UIL wants a certain # of school's in 6A and 5A and 4A, 3A, 2A get the rest.

Gonzales is the smallest school in 15=4A D 1. It does in fact have about 40 students less than it had at re-alignment last year. In other words, it is a D2 school playing in D1. Every school in the district has between 2 and 3 hundred more students in their school. Apaches will keep on plugging though and chances are good will be in the playoffs.
