I haven’t even looked at the brackets so I am not sure what round they would meet, but to me those 2 teams are clearly the best.

I do not believe there is a team on Carthage’s side of the bracket that will keep the Dawgs from Jerry World. I know LH fans won’t like this, but you are not beating Carthage running the ball in the Slot or Wing T. Carthage is too big, physical, and well coached. Even if LH has success in the 1st half Darren Preston will make his adjustments and shut it down 2nd half. You have to have a balanced attack and/or superior talent/athletes to beat Carthage.

Honestly this Carthage program is getting scary good. They used to lose games early while everybody got it figured out. That is not even happening anymore. It is now finely tuned on the lower levels. Our 8th and 9th grade rarely losses games over the last 3-4 years. Just seems like the program has taken that next step as crazy as that sounds. And the participation is ridiculous. Carthage truly has 6a numbers. 55-60 kids on the varsity with less than 800 students in the HS is unheard of.

This was supposed to be a slightly down year, but they keep winning. We thought this senior class was one of our weaker classes, but the kids have worked their asses off and are playing at a very high level. For those that see Carthage this year, they will look a lot different than you are used to seeing. The next 2 years Carthage will be back with the elite skill kids. This year we really only have 1, Kelvontay Dixon. The rest of the guys are just hard working smart kids. And they are playing lights out. Great to see.

Sounds like a real Goliath of a Program.

I listened to he guys on S2S, and they said that the backup QB Renfrow is going to be a good one? What do y’all think? I know it will take 3-4 games for him to get all the way up to speed, but does he have a chance to be a great QB?
yeah - He's tall and has a good arm - the improvement from being thrown into the heritage game to having a week of practice going into georgetown was clear as day. There's no reason he can't have success. The one thing now is he's nursing a hip injury that prevents him from being very mobile.

Lorena has defeated #9 4A D1 China Spring, #6 3A Franklin, and soundly thumped #6 4A D2 Fairfield. Both CS and Fairfield fielded some really nicely built athletes. Also took care of a much improved Lampasas team and perinial playoff team in Teague. Years past Lorena defenses have been suspect but I watched them really lock down Fairfield between the tackles allbut a couple of sizeable runs. Max Preps computers have Lorena as the number one 4AD2 in the state also. And they are very balanced offensively 1056 passing 1126 rushing.

I think Gilmer might have to play Lorena if we were to make it to Area, which is doubtful this year for the first time in a while.

I think that would be an epic beatdown at this point. Maybe you could pay Gilmer back for what they did to your neighbor Waco Connally a few years ago (2014) in that round (80-21).

Man I do not know..They have that Sulphur Springs 2008 feel, they just outscored everyone on the way to State Title. When I saw Hutto against LH that was the first team I thought of.

    Hubris would be my guess.

If Dawgs is Jewish, we could call it chutzpah.

But having seen Carthage play, it might be as Will Sonnett used to say, "No brag, just fact." https://youtu.be/9j1qkorFszY

I’m not trying to brag. Hell I don’t play or coach. Just a fan. Name a team that is on Carthage side that you think will beat Carthage late in the playoffs. We are gonna get beat at some point. Can’t win the all. I just don’t see that team in R3 or R4. LH might roll Carthage, but I will just have to see it. If it happens I’ll be here to congratulate them.

Not trying to brag ... but bragging lol.

I can laugh at your hubris, because I may have said the exact same thing you did about LH way back in 2006. I didn't think there was anyway on God's green earth that the Panthers' slot-T would even be worthy of a prayer against Celina's very, very stout 10-1 defense. I was wrong.

Carthage might roll LH. They might not. My money says we'll get to find out one way or another come December, though.

That will be a good one, but anyone could be there at this point, lots of football to go.

I will just say that what many people might not realize about Liberty Hill is how quick they are on defense and that any of their running backs have the speed to take it to the house if they get thru the line of scrimmage. They remind me a lot of the 2007 team that won a state championship playing against Gilmer. I have no doubt Carthage is every bit as good as what Dawgs states and there is a reason they are number 1 . I think the top five are all capable of bringing home the trophy this year and I also think Stephenville if healthy can be a contender.

Should the two meet in the playoffs, I sure hope the game is close to Robinson, I’d love to see that game!!
