Pat Matthews named new Bay City AD-head football coach

BAY CITY — Katy Seven Lakes offensive coordinator Pat Matthews has been named the athletic director and head football coach at Bay City.

Matthews hiring was approved by a unanimous vote of the Bay City school district board of trustees on Monday at a special-called meeting.

Matthews will replace Lupe Florez, who resigned in February to become the head football coach at Clear Brook.

Matthews, 40, has coached at Seven Lakes since 2013.

He was previously an assistant at Katy Taylor, Aldine Nimitz, Lamar Consolidated, Pasadena Rayburn and West Orange-Stark.
