    Default Wichita Falls Hirschi(5-1, 1-0) @ Decatur(3-3, 0-1)

Hirschi won big last week against Sanger 49-21 while Decatur lost to Argyle 62-21. It's been a tough road for Decatur this season with losses to Stephenville, Midlothian Heritage, and Argyle. They really have not had a signature win yet this season. Hirschi is having a great season so far......losing only to a highly ranked Graham team 42-35 in a very close game. Looks like Decatur could be in for a real tough game against the upstart Huskies tonite in Decatur.....the Eagles really need to win this game for lots of reasons. I'm of the opinion this game will be close. Decatur has played a much tougher schedule than Hirschi, but Hirschi played a very tough Graham team to the last minutes and won the rest against their schedule. Who do you like to win this one???

Let's look at some numbers and how both teams scheme their offenses first. Hirschi has scored 306 pts in 6 games this season while giving up only 83 pts......almost the exact numbers as Argyle. They are averaging 51 pts and giving up only 14 each game. Decatur has scored 220 pts and given up 222 pts this season, but against a much tougher schedule. Decatur has played some very offensive powerhouses this season. The Eagles have managed to score at least 3 TD's in those losses, however......so they are fairly offensive themselves even though the numbers don't look that way. Decatur is averaging a whopping 303.3 yds passing this season in 6 games, and 136 yds. rushing with a total of 32 TD's scored.....so that's some pretty good offense. Hirschi likes to run the ball more......they are averaging 290.7 rushing each game and 191.3 passing the ball......that's some fairly impressive offensive numbers too!! The Huskies have scored 45 TD's this season. I wonder which team has the best defense???

Hirschi has this very good RB......Junior Daimarqua Foster(5-10, 190) has rushed for 1250 yds this season. Stop him and you'll stop the Huski rushing game, but good luck with that. I think he'll get his 150+ yds tonite against Decatur.....he averages over 200 yds every game. Hirschi does have 1148 yds passing this season as well, so they are not purely a rushing attack. Their QB Martez Vrana(6-2, 175) is a senior this season and has a good stable of athletic receivers to go to......just ask Graham. Against Graham, Vrana was 16 of 27 for 184 yds. while Foster was held to only 118 yds rushing. Hirschi did amass 334 total yds against Graham in the loss, however. Graham's total offensive yds. was held to 350 in that game.

Decatur has Junior QB Wilson Hicks(6-3, 180) at the helm.....he's passed for 1631 yds in 5.5 games this season, despite facing some tough teams on the schedule. As we saw last week against Argyle, Decatur has a
pretty darn good and very speedy Soph. RB in A.J. Martinez. He's rushed for over 550 yds. and has over 350 yds. receiving. Hicks likes to throw to him on short routes, allowing him to use his speed and moves in the open field to keep the defensive secondary honest. Of course, Hicks has other receivers he hits over the middle and on deep balls regularly......Decatur is a passing offense mainly. Bottle up Hicks and Decatur has trouble. The trouble with that is that Hicks is tall and can get rid of the ball in 3 secs. if he has to......he's tall enough to see over the linemen and is mainly a pocket passer.

This is a very BIG game for both teams tonite......possibly bigger for Decatur......and it is in Decatur tonite. So who do you like, Huh? I've seen Decatur......they played Argyle last week. I think I'm taking Hirschi in this one......I think Foster and Vrana will combine to give Decatur lots of trouble and limited possessions. It should be a mid-scoring game in the 30's......maybe even more. Just remember that Decatur is better than the record shows......they have played a tough schedule.

We know this Hirschi bunch well, having played them annually and in every sport. The term "measuring stick" keeps being used, and they just haven't "measured up" to a signature victory yet. Tonight might be the night! Other quality players to watch are #33 Ezekiel Holmes (6'-5" DE), #55 Lloyd Murray Jr. (310 lb DT), #2 Gerrick McKinney (CB), and #13 Javen Banks (CB/WR). Banks, McKinney, and Foster were all relay teammates last track season, great speed. They are a fun team to watch, and Coach Youngs has done a great job instilling discipline. They will not quit on him. Good Luck to the Huskies in this one!

Decatur is 9-0 all-time vs. WF Hirschi.
