    short version:

Contracts/ buyout- they get sketchy/murky with each yearly extensions over time- the sum in question is roughly $400,000- LSU says Chavis owes them, He doesn't think so and A&M doesn't think Chavis or they do either.

Chavis, who is represented by attorney Bill Youngkin, wants a court to figure out whether LSU is owed the money, and if so, what A&M is required to pay LSU.

I was told today that $400,000 is about what LSU owes for backing out of series contract in the 90's

    Ladies and Gentlemen,

Based on concerns raised in the social media I wanted to provide you, our statement concerning the inclusion of Texas A&M in the lawsuit filed by Coach Chavis.

"Coach Chavis could not be happier to be the defensive coordinator at Texas A&M. He looks forward to the start of spring practice on Monday and is excited about coaching the Aggies this fall. Texas A&M was included in the lawsuit because it is an indispensable party and its inclusion is necessary to resolve the dispute LSU has created."

So in other words this law suit will be settle out of court just like Wickline's law suit but the media wants to make a big deal out of a minor issue, LOl.

In other words, lsu wants 400K from chavis. A&M has agreed to pay any buyout chavis requires, but A&M doesn't think lsu is owed anything. This will let the court decide if a&m has to pay and if so, how much.

Personally, I don't see how a&m can get out of paying it. Chavis was in college station recruiting for a&m well before the buyout period ended....

Either way, chavis won't pay anything.

Would you rather the media not report the story?

Official statement from Texas A&M on the Chavis lawsuit with LSU & A&M:

"There is not a dispute between Coach Chavis and Texas A&M. The University stands behind its commitment to Coach Chavis to pay any buyout due to LSU. The issue is that Texas A&M disagrees with LSU that any buyout payment is actually due."

That did not answer my question.

What's the story with the Big 12? One of the schools has a head coach involved in three lawsuits right now.
