Source: Longhorns likely to play in Texas Bowl for postseason

Following a 48-10 loss to TCU on Thanksgiving night the next game for the Texas Longhorns will likely be at Houston's NRG Stadium for the Advocare Texas Bowl.

A source with knowledge of the situation told Horns247 the Dec. 29 game, which is operated by the Houston Texans of the NFL, is where the Longhorns are expected to travel for the postseason.

“It's not a done deal, but it's pretty close to one,” the source said. “Not 100 percent, but real close.”

If the Longhorns (6-6, 5-4 in the Big 12) do play in the Texas Bowl it will be against a team from the Southeastern Conference. The likely opponent in that situation would either be Texas A&M (7-5) or Arkansas (6-6), but unlike the Big 12 where the bowls select the teams not in the College Football Playoff or associated bowl games the SEC chooses which teams go to which bowls.
