West Texas people....
So I've been all over West TX lately working for Schlumberger. We've driven through towns like Snyder, Big Spring, Abilene, on the way to hotel stays in Van Horn, Alpine, Fort Stockton, and Pecos. The scenery west of the Pecos is great out side of the towns, but in the cities, it is just so much decay and collapse. I hope with oil booming again and the renewed focus on horizontal drilling in the Permian Basin that these towns and people start to see a little re-birth.

You know, my uncle got into trouble back in the late 50's or early 60's for slant holes...I was taught then that it is illegal. He went to South Africa. Is it legal now?

My 23-year old son just moved to Midland, working in Odessa. (not for the oil business) There is definitely lots of new business & home-building in Midland.

Once you get to Eagle Pass and Laredo.. there are tons of construction.
The boom is there.. just not too far North apparently. I have been everywhere in this great state except northwest.
