Default Record Attendance For Texas HS Football Game?

What is the record attendance for a Texas HS football game? I think it has been posted here before, but I was wondering the chances of it being broken if the right matchups end up in the new Cowboy Stadium. Could there ever be a 100K HS football game?

Didn't Burnet use to bring 60,000 to their games

Didn't the SLC-ET game in 05 or 06 break the record of PA-M and Plano from the 70's? I know it got very close

Either way the record for texas is right at 50,000

There have been larger crowds i believe in Ohio for the McKinley-Massilion games

I think the official record is Plano-PNG in the late 1970's just short of 50k...official attendance for SLC-Trinity was like 46k but by the end of the game it was well over 50k

Truth be told Burnet vs. Sinton did draw close to 14,000 fans back in 01' or 02' in San Marcos. I thought that was pretty cool for a 3a game.

No. They had to stretch for the 100K at the Cowboys opener.

I could see 60,000 for another mega matchup. I would have gone to SLC v. ET but I knew it would be near sold out. Heck if that same type of match up happened this season, the game + people still wanting to see Cowboys Stadium for the first time could make it happen.

That SL Carroll - Euless Trinity game had to have had more than 50,000. Texas Stadium held better than 65,000 and there didn't look like any empty seats......certainly not 15,000 empty seats.

Also, that looked like a lot more than 36,000 at that SLC - Allen game, too. That stadium holds in excess of 100,000 and it looked like it was more than half full.

You think maybe they only counted paid attendance?

I agree--I can see a 100k hs game in the not too far distant future, though---the Metroplex is at 6.5M and growing faster than any other metro area in the US. Plus, as you stated, Cowboy's Stadium has become one of the "sports wonders of the world" and is on everyone's "must see" list when in the Metroplex.

The Prep Bowl, an annual match-up between the champions of the Catholic and public high-school leagues, drew 120,000 fans to Soldier Field in 1937, the largest crowd ever to witness a football game in the United States
