    Default Peter Graves died

Best known for his role as Jim Phelps on TV's Mission Impossible, Peter Graves died today of an apparent heart attack outside his Los Angeles home. He would have turned 84 this week.

Very sad indeed, when I get old I want to be as cool as Peter Graves.

Do you like movies about gladiators?

His most memorable role, for me at least. Although Winds of War/War and Remembrance runs a very close second.

Peter Graves played the dad in the 1960's series ''Fury'' with Bobby Diamond and William Fawcett, about a boy and a Black Stallion that only the boy could ride.
I remember when I was a little kid in the early 70's, one of the independant TV stations ran back to back to back reruns of Fury, the Rifleman, and the Lone Ranger every weekday after school.

So, it sounds like, at the end of his life, he "self-destructed in five seconds."

Massive heart attack is the way I want to go also — in my sleep.

    R.I.P. "Jim" aka Peter Graves

Peter Graves was great as Jim Phelps in Mission Impossible on tv. They made a movie by the same title with Tom Cruise in 1996 that I resented because in it the Peter Graves character was protrayed by Jon Voight as turning traitor in his old age. They should have left that alone in my opinion.

Although it's said he never achieved the fame of his older brother, he was a good actor and I always enjoyed the MI episodes. Both were very good in their major roles.
