Coin flipping for girls basketball playoff seedings

District 26-4A basketball's four girls playoff teams decided to flip a coin for seedings instead of playing in a game
La Grange and Navasota tied for the district championship with 9-1 records and Smithville and Giddings tied for third with 4-6 records.

In my opinion I doubt it made a difference since all four teams are pretty equal. They will play District 25-4A opponents in bi-district playoff teams next week

I wonder if this happens a lot in basketball or even in softball and baseball.
