Silsbee wins back to back 4A champions

Very impressive win over Dallas Carter......they were very, very good this season. I wonder if this was the most points scored all season by both teams??? That's a lot of points combined.....especially for a State Championship game where defense and quality of opponent usually keeps the scores lower. Must have been the best game of all the tournament games this season, Huh?

Silsbee scored over 100 points 9 times this season......120 points against a very top rated Houston Yates team that also got it over 100 pts in that regional final.......and in this State Championship final game against Dallas Carter. That's a very impressive stat for the season for any team. I wonder if they could have beaten the 6A Champ Allen Eagles this season???

After watching the NFHS tape delay of the game.....looks like Carter had more talent, but Silsbee had a couple of better shooters and played a cleaner game with fewer mistakes. Tough to say in this type of back and forth game between two very talented clubs.

McCain of Silsbee had 39 points and Bush of Silsbee had 31 also. Mumford of Carter had 36 points for Carter. Devon McCain(6-4) is a junior and Braelon Bush(5-6) is only a soph. Mumford (6-4) for Carter is a junior also. Congrats to this great Silsbee team that is still very young for their back to back State Championships in Class 4A. This is a town of about 6500 population that competes against great Houston area teams and some Dallas Metro teams in the final fours. The UIL said it was the first time for any team to break 100 pts. in a State Championship game.....and both teams in a Class 4A game did it this season. Last season Silsbee defeated Argyle in the semifinal 46-45(typical Argyle low-scoring tough defense) and Brazosport in the final 89-83.
