Giddings Baseball Program loses baseball fieldhouse to fire

The baseball program at Giddings High School was dealt a devastating blow early this (Wednesday) morning.

A fire engulfed the baseball field house, destroying much of the teams’ equipment.

Smoke was reported coming from the field house just before 6:00 this (Wednesday) morning. When firemen arrived, it was fully engulfed in flames.

No injuries reported. A full damage assessment is being conducted.

According to the Giddings Athletic Booster Club, the JV team has lost everything and the Varsity the varsity team is still assessing their damage.

Members of the Booster Club have set a Hamburger Meal Fundraiser for tomorrow (Thursday). The drive-thru meal, which can be picked up after 5:00 p.m. at the baseball field, will include a burger, chips, drink and homemade dessert..

Much sympathy from Argyle for the Giddings team, school, coaches, and townsfolk. It's a tough pill to swallow right smack dab in the middle of the season, for sure. I hope the team can overcome this obstacle and be the recipient of some generous donors.
