Rockport-Fulton is the favorite to win district coming in.
Sinton with new coach, from what i'm seeing might just turn the ship on the correct path in his first season.

Ingleside improved last year quite a bit. Hope that trend continues.

Went to see Corpus Christi Miller scrimmage Orange Grove. Miller 9 td to Orange Grove 0 in a hr scrimmage.
Miller is loaded their going to put up some points this season on alot of teams, they have the team to make a run in 5a Div 1.
Orange Grove just outmatched in this one speed and size wise. They're qb is mobile and have usual big offensive line.
Video not to sharp in this one, OG on offense.

One of Miller tds, their line about 300lbs about 3 of them

Sinton has a few Fr on the team, one related to me (finally somebody on the team) and several Soph. Qb Chris Arriaga came in the 2nd set of downs he started two games last season as a sophomore against West Oso and Robstown. Not sure who the qb was that started one fan said it was a transfer from Orange Grove but look to me to be sophomore transfer from Gregory Portland. Sinton did well in first set of downs on both offense and defense but after that in the next two sets Kingsville outplayed Sinton. Two long passes for td for Kingsville. Kingsville 2 Sinton 1 in the hr long scrimmage. Sinton vs Corpus Christi Carroll next thursday in their last scrimmage.

Yeah, there's a bunch of Brownsville schools, some 6A, some 5A DI. A couple that are consistently good, and some that are just plain bad at football, but really good at futbol.
Brownsville 6A - Hanna, Rivera
Brownsville 5A DI - Pace, Porter, Lopez, Veterans
Anyone know how Ingleside did in their scrimmage?
Rockport did well vs CC Ray in the scrimmage last week.
Not a single play of slot-T from Jay Seiberts pirates. Thats not a typo.
Also new OC and DC over here on the peninsula. Definitely a new look for this team.
I want to say it was 1 - 0 in favor of Ray
Sinton 2 Carroll 0

Still looking for articles on Rio Hondo and Raymondville.
Went to see La Vernia/Wimberley both look good! post bit of scrimmage once i upload and get it ready. La Vernia might be favorite in D1 in R4.
Found the article for the Rio Hondo scrimmage. Still trying to find info on how Raymondville did.
Rio Hondo vs. Lyford - http://rgvsports.com/news/84770/bobc...inst-bulldogs/
Rio Hondo looks like two good scrimmages, PI better start this season in their scrimmages.
Matt(TFDC) has D15 and D16 in his picks
D15
1.Rockport-Fulton
2.Sinton
3.West Oso
4.Ingleside
5.Orange Grove
6.Robstown
D16
1.Raymondville
2.Port Isabel
3.Rio Hondo
4.Progreso
Sinton did show a bit of a spark to start the season but they have rough stretch in their first 4 games as does Rockport-Fulton records might not be there early but i think both rebound in district. West Oso might be better this season after going 3 rounds.
Raymondville has some good pieces back lose a coach or two? Port Isabel gets back the coach's son lost last season to injury should help to add to the offense. Rio Hondo looks like have reloaded after two scrimmages. Progreso is playoff bound.
Think it was Ingleside 3 Taft 0 in their scrimmage.
I have D15 going....
1. West Oso
2. Rockport
3. Sinton
4. Ingleside
5. Orange Grove
6. Robstown
As for D16......that's a much tougher district to pick but, for now....
1. Raymondville
2. Port Isabel
3. Rio Hondo
4. Progreso
The X-Factor, though, is Raymondville. They lost a lot of their skill players, and also lost their Defensive Coordinator who became a head coach elsewhere in the RGV. If it turns out Raymondville isn't as strong defensively, there's a chance Port Isabel and/or Rio Hondo could beat them.
It'll definitely be something to keep an eye on.
As for Rio Hondo, don't put too much stock in them just yet. They did graduate a ton of kids last year and most of their team was JV last year. While they looked good in their scrimmages, they dominated a projected bottom of the barrel Brownsville Lopez team, and only managed 3 scores against a slightly above average 3A DI team in Lyford. Their first opponent is a 6A team that is projected to do pretty well this year. Let's see how they respond to the significant increase in difficulty first before we start drawing any conclusions.
Port Isabel has been slowly but steadily improving since the start of last season with the late arrival of their new coach. The Tarpons competed well against a Brownsville Pace team that made the playoffs in 5A DI last season, and showed flashes of dominance at times last week against Santa Rosa, a 3A DI playoff team last season. Take into consideration that at this time last year, the Tarpons were dominated completely by Pace, and were beaten by Santa Rosa in their scrimmages. This week, the Tarpons face a Brownsville Porter team that only won 1 game last season.....that win was against Port Isabel. The Tarpons will be looking for payback. IMO, if the Tarpons blow out Porter, then expect them to do well the rest of the season. If the Tarpons struggle or......lose, then it may be a long year for the Tarpons.
Ingleside starts out with San Diego at home this week. They gave us a butt whoopin last year.
West Oso vs Odem
Should be a good one.
Rockport Fulton vs Aransas Pass Saturday on TV
Sinton highlights from week 1 against La Vernia. Game highlights i'll put in game thread when ready.

Meanwhile....in 16 4A DII
3 of the 4 games went about as I expected they would. La Feria pulled away from Raymondville already looking in mid-season form. Rio Hondo finally played some big boys after playing some cupcakes in scrimmages and got smacked in the mouth, and Progreso did their thing vs. 2A DI La Villa, though I'll be perfectly honest, I was surprised the game was close.
The one disappointment was Port Isabel's loss to Brownsville Porter. Porter's defense was all over the place, stuffing PI's offense for the vast majority of the game. PI's points were a Kickoff return, and off a fumble giving the Tarpons a very short field. The Tarpons had one GOOD drive, it was the final drive of the game. PI got as close to the 7 yard line and attempted a game winning FG, but missed wide left (sound familiar?) Game goes to OT where Porter ends up winning. So the question now is...... is Brownsville Porter going to be good this year? Or is Port Isabel not so good? Keep in mind, Porter was 1-9 last year with their only win over Port Isabel.
ingleside's starting QB did not play last week and he is now out for the season due to seizures he is having. He is a senior and has been the QB the past 2 yrs. Tough break for him.
Season standings after 3 weeks of football
Robstown 2-1
Rockport-Fulton 1-2
West Oso 1-2
Ingleside 1-2
Sinton 0-2
Orange Grove 0-3
This week games with DCTF line:
Beeville Jones at Sinton (Beeville by 10)
West Oso at John Paul II (0)
Ingleside at Vanderbilt Industrial (Vanderbilt Industrial by 10)
La Grulla at Orange Grove (Orange Grove by 2)
Kingsville King at Robstown (Kingsville King by 8)
Rockport-Fulton at Goliad (Goliad by 11)
All teams are struggling early on except Robstown.
Robstown has played Bloomington, London, and Banquete. Bloomington and Banquete have town populations of 800-1000. London is a small community in the middle of grain fields west of Corpus Christi.
Rockport pulled the Slot-T back out against Alice and resulted in the most fruitful offensive drives so far this season. Some poor clock management from the coaching staff as per usual cost the pirates to stall out on the .5 yard line as time expired in the first half.
Last season the Pirates went 1-4 in non district play, then rolled through everyone before being outclassed by Navarro. RF has a decent chance to beat Goliad. I expect La Vernia to pop us in the mouth pretty hard though.
Meanwhile, in 16-4A II.....
The injury bug has bitten Port Isabel (1-2) it seems, as a few key players have been lost for at least the next month. A full-strength Port Isabel beat Pharr Valley View handily, then without the aforementioned injured players, lost to Hidalgo last week 21-13. They face an unbeaten La Feria team this coming Friday.....
Raymondville is 2-1 after blowing out Lyford last week 49-0 and looks to be the front runner for the district title yet again this season.
Rio Hondo is also 2-1, but their wins have been close. They needed a late score to beat Brownsville St. Joseph 34-28 last week
And Progreso (the Mighty Red Ants) are 2-1 after beating Santa Gertrudis Academy out of Kingsville 14-7 last Friday.
Standings after Week 3....
Raymondville (2-1)
Rio Hondo (2-1)
Progreso (2-1)
Port Isabel (1-2)
