Looks like that tropical storm coming up from the Mexican Gulf will impact Texas on Wednesday with rain and thunderstorms. Not sure how it will affect the Austin area......the weather forecast is calling for possible thunderstorms during the day. Thursday for the final looks like it will be a better day and clear for the 4A Final. We might have delays and the scheduling could be thrown off because of this tropical disturbance in the Gulf. Not as critical for 4A as the rest because all the rest play at Dell Diamond......only 4A plays at Disch-Falk. Just be cognizant that the weather.....again.....could cause problems for some or all of the games this week.

I wonder how much "juice" a pitcher at the high school level can put on a ball if it's a little wet.....kinda like the old "spitball". With enough speed and rotation.....those pitches can make that ball "move" quite a bit and make it hard to hit. The sliders with a wet ball should really move, Huh? And how about a wet ball on an aluminum bat??? I wonder how much different that is than a wet ball on a wooden bat like we played with in the 70's. The aluminum bats get wet too! How much rain do they need before they postpone the game anyway? The field is artificial turf.....hard grounders skip and pick up speed on wet turf. Then throws to the bases and from the outfield could get problematic with wet conditions.
-
Well I sure hope the games at 1 pm and 4 pm are not postponed due to rain. I guess whoever wins the early game will stick around and watch Argyle play La Vernia in the later game.....just to get a taste for what's on menu next. Argyle and La Vernia will be able to see some of the first game, but their energies will be focused on the game in front of them.....so it's not the same kind of flavor to savor.
GO EAGLES!!!

High pop up to SS Dixon for the final out......Argyle coming to bat in the bottom of the first.
